City Council and Free Trade Zone sign a protocol for the creation of a customs warehouse in Jerez that will create between 700 and 1,000 jobs

Jorge Ramos announced that the Free Trade Zone plans to launch public offers in the fall as there are already companies interested in settling in the customs warehouse.

The mayor highlighted that this project will be essential to promote job creation and economic development of the city.

This deposit will mean an investment by the Free Trade Zone of more than 25 million in the next two years, and it is expected that the companies that set up shop will generate an economic movement of between 125 and 150 million euros.

The mayor, María José García-Pelayo, and the Special Delegate of the Free Trade Zone State, Jorge Ramos, signed last Friday a protocol for the installation of a 110,000 square meter customs warehouse in the Transport City, which will offer important tax and customs advantages to the companies that set up shop. The project, the result of the collaboration between the City Council and the Zona Franca, will generate around 700 and 1,000 jobs, so “it will add to the creation of employment in Jerez”, in the words of the mayor.
As Jorge Ramos pointed out, this deposit will involve an investment by the Free Trade Zone of more than 25 million in the next two years, apart from the equipment of the companies that are installed, and it is expected that these companies will generate an economic movement of between 125 and 150 million euros.

María José García-Pelayo pointed out that the installation of this customs warehouse in Jerez will be essential to boost employment and the economic development of the city, since it will allow companies to establish themselves that will have an easier time carrying out their commercial activity and obtain important tax benefits as well as greater economic profitability.
Once again, he thanked Zona Franca for its firm and determined commitment to Jerez from day one, with important projects that will create wealth and employment and improve the city's infrastructure, as is the case of the San Agustín Business Center, already in its final stretch of works, or the redevelopment project of Polígono El Portal, which began this week.
For his part, Jorge Ramos explained that the installation of a customs warehouse “will mean a significant investment for Jerez, and that, from the point of view of the tax and customs advantages that the location in a tax area entails, it will allow the installation of many companies that will be very competitive.”
As he said, the intention of the Free Trade Zone is to “complete the administrative procedures involved in this process that begins with this protocol, which will be translated into an executive agreement, with the idea that the deposit will become a reality this year.”
Likewise, Jorge Ramos advanced “that there are already companies interested in settling in this area that are going to generate a lot of economic activity and investment induced and direct by the Free Trade Zone, in addition to resources for the City Council and, what is more important, a lot of direct and indirect employment will be created in that tax area, around 700 or 1,000 jobs.” concrete.
In this sense, he explained that "the forecast is to make the corresponding public offers in the last four months of the year so that interested companies can officially propose their implementation in that customs warehouse." As he calculated, “this first phase of the public offer carried out by the Free Zone would involve an occupation of around 35 percent of the total surface.”
