The company celebrates its first Open Innovation Day in the Free Trade Zone incubator, where it has an office that will act as a territorial innovation node in Western Andalusia
The meeting brings together representatives from academia, emerging companies and innovation agents to explore new opportunities for collaboration in marine renewable energy, green hydrogen and industrial digitalization
The initiative continues the collaboration announced in September and is held just a few days after the Blue Zone Forum InnovAzul, in which the director of Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies, Sara Oliveira, participated
Navantia Seanergies has begun its activity in Incubazul, the business incubator in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, with the celebration this Wednesday of an Open Innovation Day aimed at strengthening the relationship between the industry, the academic field and the entrepreneurial ecosystem linked to marine energies and the blue economy. The meeting represents a new step in the collaboration between both entities and in the implementation of the permanent space available to the company in these facilities.
The conference brought together representatives from universities, research staff, teachers, students, startups and other innovation agents, who had the opportunity to learn about the challenges and industrial capabilities of Navantia Seanergies and explore new avenues of cooperation. The meeting has focused on strategic areas such as marine renewable energies, renewable hydrogen, industrial digitalization and the sustainable blue economy.
The event was attended by the director of Navantia Seanergies, Javier Herrador, and Fran González, State delegate for the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, who highlighted the importance of connecting the knowledge, talent and solutions developed by the innovative ecosystem with the real needs of the industry.
The program included a round table moderated by the head of Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies, Sara Oliveira, in which the Director of Engineering of Navantia Seanergies, Miriam Terceño, and representatives of Bimovador and Blue Twin, the Loyola Energy, Technology and Sustainability Research Institute of the Loyola Andalusia University and Digital Shape participated. During the dialogue, experiences, projects and proposals were shared aimed at facilitating the application of innovative solutions in industrial environments.
Bimovador and Blue Twin, specialized in monitoring, is a start-up dedicated to the inspection and maintenance of port and underwater infrastructure using digital twins. The Loyola Andalusia University project develops autonomous catamarans equipped with sensors for monitoring tasks. And Digital Shape, a technology-based company from the University of Cádiz, is specialized in 3D design and digitization, simulation and advanced manufacturing.
The Navantia Seanergies Open Innovation Day & Incubazul Ecosystem has allowed progress from the exchange of knowledge to the identification of concrete opportunities for collaboration. Among the possible lines of cooperation, the development of proofs of concept, pilot projects and other formulas that allow new technologies to be validated and accelerate their incorporation into industrial processes have been addressed.
An innovation node in Western Andalusia
This willingness to collaborate will continue beyond the meeting. Navantia Seanergies has a permanent space in the Incubazul building, where an office is located that acts as a territorial innovation node for Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies in Western Andalusia. This space is conceived as an infrastructure to support the development of joint initiatives related to innovation, knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship in the field of the blue economy.
The office will strengthen Navantia Seanergies' connection with startups, universities and agents of the innovative ecosystem of Cádiz. Likewise, it will facilitate the identification of challenges and solutions, the support of business initiatives and the promotion of projects with application in the green energy sector.
Navantia Seanergies will act as a driving company, contributing its knowledge of the sector, its technological and industrial capabilities and its experience in projects linked to renewable energies. For their part, Incubazul and Blue Core will contribute to connecting the company with the entrepreneurial ecosystem and with the incubation, acceleration, training and business advice programs.
The conference has also contributed to promoting a stable community of collaboration between companies, startups, universities and innovation support entities. In this context, the creation of a working group will be promoted aimed at energizing the Incubazul ecosystem and promoting the growth of new initiatives related to the blue economy.
The meeting is held just a few days after the fourth edition of the Blue Zone Forum InnovAzul, organized by the Zona Franca de Cádiz and the University of Cádiz, which has brought together more than 2,000 people registered around innovation, sustainability and the business and professional opportunities of the blue economy. The director of Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies, Sara Oliveira, participated in the Blue Women Forum, dedicated to the role of women in the blue economy. The launch of Navantia Seanergies' activity in Incubazul continues this commitment to connecting scientific knowledge, talent and industrial capabilities to promote new projects from Cádiz.
With this initiative, Navantia Seanergies and Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies reinforce their commitment to open innovation, the transfer of knowledge and the creation of alliances capable of transforming industrial challenges into new technological, business and sustainable development opportunities.
Today's event was held in the Incubazul building, which, together with Blue Core, make up the two initiatives of the Cádiz Free Zone to promote the Blue Economy. Blue Core is 85% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain 2021-2027, within the framework of priority P1A of the Nurseries 4.0 High Technology Incubators Program, intended to promote a digital and intelligent transition.
