The public company will promote the Blue Economy ecosystem in this emblematic building of recycled maritime containers with a permanent space from which it will promote projects linked to offshore wind, green hydrogen and other sustainable energies
The agreement will allow the development of joint actions on open innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship support linked to the maritime sector.
As the first initiative of this agreement, Navantia Seanergies will organize an event to mobilize the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the fall at the Incubazul facilities.
The incorporation of Navantia Seanergies consolidates Incubazul as one of the main reference centers of the Blue Economy in Spain
The Cádiz Free Zone and Navantia Seanergies have taken a new step in their joint commitment to innovation and the development of the Blue Economy with the signing of the agreement that will allow the company to install an innovation office in the Incubazul building, headquarters of the high-tech incubator promoted by the Cádiz Consortium.
The agreement develops the protocol of intentions signed by both entities last December and consolidates a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening the blue innovation ecosystem of the province of Cádiz. In this way, it promotes collaboration between a leading company in the naval and marine energy sector and the entrepreneurial, technological and business fabric that is developed around its industry 4.0 model and its Incubazul and Blue Core projects.
An innovation node for sea energies
Under the agreement, Navantia Seanergies will have a permanent space in the Incubazul building, where it will locate an office that will act as the territorial innovation node of the Navantia Seanergies COEX Green Energies in Western Andalusia, conceived as a support infrastructure for the development of joint actions related to innovation, knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship in the field of the Blue Economy.
From this office, located in an emblematic building built from recycled maritime containers, the company will promote initiatives linked to the technological maturation of solutions related to offshore wind, green hydrogen and other sustainable marine energies through an open innovation model that integrates companies, startups, technology centers and R&D&I agents.
Within the strategic alliance that both entities have been maintaining for some time, this new advance goes beyond the physical implementation of a space, as it also contemplates the implementation of joint actions regarding the Blue Economy.
The agreement contemplates the participation of Navantia Seanergies in the selection juries of the business projects that choose to join Incubazul, as well as in hackathons, technical conferences, dissemination activities and other events organized by the incubator related to the Blue Economy. Likewise, the Free Trade Zone will provide the company with knowledge of the projects that are in the acceleration phase to promote possible lines of technological collaboration between Navantia and the incubated startups.
Promotion of entrepreneurship and open innovation
As a first initiative, Navantia Seanergies will organize in the fall a day to energize the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Incubazul, in which it will present its business lines, technological capabilities and areas of interest in innovation to identify, together with startups, companies and support entities, solutions with potential for industrial application. The conference will address strategic areas such as offshore wind, renewable hydrogen, the naval and offshore industry, industrial digitalization and automation, artificial intelligence, maritime-port logistics, environmental sustainability and the circular economy, reinforcing the connection between the industry and the entrepreneurial ecosystem to promote high-impact projects and a more competitive and sustainable Blue Economy.
This alliance will strengthen the connection between innovative entrepreneurship and the consolidated industrial fabric, promoting the transfer of knowledge, the acquisition of collaborative projects and the generation of new public and private financing opportunities for initiatives linked to the Blue Economy. In addition, it will contribute to reinforcing the positioning of Incubazul as a national reference center in blue innovation and to increasing the attractiveness of the ecosystem promoted by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone.
Cádiz, national reference for the Blue Economy
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, has highlighted that the incorporation of Navantia Seanergies represents a decisive step to continue consolidating Incubazul as the great meeting point of innovation linked to the Blue Economy. “Having a driving company like Navantia within our ecosystem will allow us to generate new collaboration opportunities for startups, accelerate technology transfer and strengthen a model that places Cádiz as a national benchmark in an economy linked to the sea.”
For his part, the director of Navantia Seanergies, Javier Herrador, highlighted that “Incubazul gives us a unique opportunity to reinforce our commitment to open innovation and connect directly with startups, entrepreneurs and key agents of the Blue Economy in the Cádiz area.”
The presence of Navantia Seanergies in Incubazul represents the incorporation into the ecosystem promoted by the Free Zone of one of the main industrial companies linked to the energy transition and marine energies. Its activity in the field of offshore wind, green hydrogen and other sustainable technologies will expand the collaboration capabilities between consolidated companies, entrepreneurs, universities and research centers that develop their activity around the incubator.
With this agreement, both entities also express their willingness to continue exploring new lines of collaboration aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, technological innovation and the development of strategic projects linked to the Blue Economy. The agreement reinforces the role of Cádiz as one of the main centers of maritime innovation in the country.
