The relationship between the Free Trade Zone and the University will take another step this year with the joint celebration of a new edition of Blue Zone Forum-Innovazul
The Cádiz Free Trade Zone received this Friday from the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences of the University of Cádiz a distinction for the contribution of the Cádiz Consortium to the university community, with whom it maintains a close link around the Blue Economy ecosystem and its work to connect academic talent with the business fabric.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Fran González, collected the award at the event that took place at that faculty on the Puerto Real Campus coinciding with the graduation ceremony for the center's degrees for the 2025-26 academic year. The distinction has been awarded to the Cádiz Free Zone "for its continuous and strategic collaboration with the university community and, especially, with the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences."
Zona Franca maintains a strong bond with officials, members, graduates and students of the UCA, and both institutions maintain lines of joint work. In fact, a very significant number of the Incubazul Blue Core startup network have been or are part of the University of Cádiz community.
Furthermore, this alliance will be reinforced again this year with the celebration of the Blue Zone Forum-Innovazul next autumn and for which both institutions will join forces around the Blue Economy ecosystem of the Cádiz Consortium, with a strong commitment to technology, research and knowledge transfer.
In addition to the joint celebration of the Blue Zone Forum Innovazul, both institutions have participated jointly in Innovazul Caribe, they have lines of work in the Social Council of the UCA of which Zona Franca is a member, and a close link with CEI-Mar, a very important part of the Blue Economy ecosystem, to name some of their collaborations.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Fran González, has thanked the distinction granted and has pointed out that both institutions work to "optimize synergies throughout the province, in favor of creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and, therefore, employment from the basis of research, talent and the technological potential of our land. Public institutions have to put all our efforts into innovation, in the digital era, in being at the forefront so that our business fabric is increasingly competitive, consolidates and grows and in this “We work every day.”
The dean of the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, Javier Benavente, highlighted the importance of this type of synergies, in which the productive fabric of the province benefits from the advances of the University, while it improves its degrees and the employability of its graduates.
