The Free Trade Zone reaffirms its support for the Cádiz naval sector at Navalia 2026

The delegate of the Cádiz Consortium, Fran González, has accompanied the Cádiz companies present at the main naval industry fair in the country, which have projected themselves as the spearhead of the Blue Economy sector in Andalusia and throughout Spain

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone stand has received numerous visits and an intense agenda of contacts has been maintained with companies and institutions interested in the services, advantages and synergies of the innovative ecosystem consolidated around the Cádiz Institution

Fran González has highlighted the importance of the naval sector globally and, especially, in the province of Cádiz as ““strategic lever at a time when Europe once again looks to the sea”

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has shown in Navalia all the potential and strengths of the Blue Economy and innovation ecosystem that exists in the province of Cádiz, which is already a benchmark and has made its relevance clear with the presence of a good number of major firms from the Cádiz naval sector with which the Consortium has a close link, such as Elecam, Quest Global, Cayco, Surcontrol or Frizonia.

The delegate of the State of the Free Zone, Fran González, accompanied by the financial and Blue Economy director, José Manuel Fedriani, and by the director of Business Promotion and Foreign Trade, Marta Domínguez, have been present at Navalia, the main naval fair in Spain and one of the three most important in Europe, in which more than 600 exhibitors from all over the world have participated and where the latest advances in the sector are presented.

The innovation and Blue Economy ecosystem of the province of Cádiz has been perfectly represented with the presence of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, its Blue Core-Incubazul projects with five of its startups, and the main companies in the naval sector of the province, in addition to entities and companies such as the Cádiz Naval Maritime Cluster, the port of Cádiz, Cadiz Port or Navantia, also closely linked and that support with their alliances the role that the Cádiz consortium as the engine of this ecosystem.

It must be remembered that the recent study carried out by the University of Cádiz and the Free Trade Zone on the Blue Economy in the province of Cádiz confirmed the importance of the Cádiz naval industry, a sector that is in the leading positions for its contribution to the provincial GDP, well above what the sector contributes to the Andalusian GDP.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has taken advantage of this important showcase to show all the work that is being carried out in Cádiz around the Blue Economy and how the province of Cádiz is already a benchmark in the sector. Not in vain, last year Navalia chose Cádiz to celebrate the Blue Zone Forum-Navalia Meeting 2025 together with the Cádiz Consortium.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone has recognized the work being carried out by "companies from Cádiz that are today in Navalia, of which we are very proud and which we thank for choosing our facilities for their location. They are companies that are creating an important innovative fabric around the Cádiz tax area and that complement and enrich our ecosystem every day."

Fran González added that "the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has long been closely linked to the naval sector and we are committed to continuing in it. "Talking about the naval sector in general and in Cádiz in particular is talking about an industry with real historical weight, but currently also - or above all - about a strategic lever at a time when Europe is once again looking at the sea as a space of industrial sovereignty."

The person in charge of the Free Zone has highlighted that "let us not forget that in Cádiz we have Navantia, which is decisive as an industrial tractor, articulating a network of highly specialized SMEs that make up one of the most relevant naval clusters in the country. The public-private collaboration so demanded for many strategic projects to see the light, in Cádiz is a reality."

Intense national and international contact agenda

Fran González and his team have maintained an intense agenda of meetings and contacts with companies and institutions, in addition to which a large audience, authorities and company representatives have stopped by the Consortium stand and its Blue Core-Incubazul projects to gather information about them.

International contacts have had one of their main forums in the meeting organized by the Spanish Maritime Cluster with companies in the maritime sector of Colombia Procolombia, a Colombian government organization in charge of promoting tourism and foreign investment in Colombia.

Within the framework of the Navalia fair, the FINE Awards ceremony was also held, which recognize the excellence of the maritime and naval sector in Spain. These awards represent a commitment to promoting the maritime sector, as well as supporting the agents and business values that make up and characterize it.

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has participated once again in this important sector fair that was held in Vigo from May 19 to 21, when the Galician city becomes the epicenter of the naval industry. We must also remember the close collaboration between the Cádiz Free Trade Zone and Navalia, reinforced with the celebration of the last Blue Zone Forum last September, when both entities jointly organized in Cádiz this important Blue Economy meeting that has been held since 2023 and turns the Cadiz capital into the epicenter of the sector.
