Fran González highlights the importance of European Funds for the development of the Incubazul project

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, has highlighted today the importance of having European Funds for the development of innovative Blue Economy projects, such as the Incubazul incubator that the Cádiz Consortium has in place and therefore whose acceleration program a hundred startups have already passed. This was stated during his speech at the round table “European Funds: catalysts for innovation in the Blue Economy” held within the framework of the II International Blue Economy Congress that took place throughout the day yesterday in Valencia.

Fran González explained the development of the Incubazul project, which was born thanks to the support of the European Union, 80% co-financed by Feder Funds within the 2014-2020 Pluriregional Operational Program through the Incyde Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce. Natalia Vázquez, director of Feder Projects at the Incyde Foundation, and Cosme García, managing director of Economic Promotion of Gran Canaria, also participated in the round table.

The head of the Cádiz Consortium has explained extensively how the development of Incubazul and its acceleration program has been, which has higher success rates than other projects of this type, even more so taking into account that in just over two years a third of The startups are already billing and another third of them have a Minimum Viable Product.

Furthermore, Fran González has highlighted the importance of the European Funds, which have provided essential support for the development of the Cádiz Free Zone project, which has also exceeded 100% of the degree of execution of the grants granted once it is completed. the operational framework of the subsidies granted. The delegate of the Cádiz Consortium has pointed out that the support of the European Funds "demonstrates that the Free Zone continues to be a suitable organization and capable of effectively channeling these funds, which are certainly a useful and necessary tool."

The delegate of the Cádiz State has stressed the importance of attending these forums where “high-level experts meet and where Incubazul already serves as a reference and model of success. We are very proud to be asked by other public and private organizations to be present at these types of meetings, where we can give even more visibility to our project.”

The II International Blue Economy Congress, organized by the Interuniversity Chair of Blue Economy made up of the University of Alicante, Miguel Hernández University of Elche and the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, was held in the port of Valencia and brought together to national and international experts and authorities in a key event to promote institutional cooperation and debate the financing mechanisms necessary for the growth of the maritime sector.

During the congress, a manifesto was presented that includes a series of proposals aimed at developing a Blue Economy strategy for the Valencian Community. This initiative seeks to strengthen the competitiveness of the sector, promoting innovation, environmental protection and sustainable development.

The manifesto is committed to creating a center for impulse, sectoral dialogue and development of the sector in the community, with universities and economic sectors, without burdening new administrative or bureaucratic structures and being able to bring together important actors and economic sectors that make up the blue economy.
