The demolition of Talleres Pastoriza clears the image of the entrance to the city

The Free Trade Zone has already completed the demolition work on the facilities, which will allow it to begin the urban development of the UE-ZF-10 A Execution Unit, annexed to the Incubazul Base Zone.

In just a month and a half, the Erri Berri company has left open a plot of 2.372 m2 in which action has been taken on disused buildings with a total area of 2,885 m2, located on the corner of Algeciras Street and Professor Isabel Azcárate Street

The Free Trade Zone takes a new step to continue advancing in the revitalization of the exterior industrial estate, in which it is committed to public-private collaboration, generating trust and urban-organized spaces that attract new investments to the city.

The old Pastoriza Workshops in Cádiz are now history. The Free Trade Zone has completed the demolition of the last disused and abandoned facilities that were still standing, located on Algeciras Street on the corner of Professora Isabel Azcárate Street.

The work has been carried out in a shorter period than initially planned and has lasted for a month and a half, in which the company Construcciones y Excavaciones Erri Berri S.L. has demolished all the remaining buildings and which in total had a constructed area of 2,885 m2 on a plot of 2,372 m2, included in the UE-ZF-10 A Execution Unit – adjacent to the UE-ZF-08 where the Incubazul Base Zone project is located.

In this sense, the State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Fran González, has highlighted that "the completion of the demolition of Pastoriza is a new step towards the reorganization of the outer polygon in which the Free Zone is committed to a model of public-private collaboration that serves as a catalyst for the arrival of investments and new projects as we have made possible in the Base Zone plot, with very positive results such as the construction of the iconic recycled maritime container building, the arrival of the a hotel linked to business for the old Ibérica Aga building or the plot that is also being marketed on Algeciras street.”

It must be remembered that the work completes the demolition of the entire set of facilities of what was 'Talleres y Comercial Pastoriza', the first phase of which was carried out in the last months of 2020 to be able to undertake the urbanization of the UE-ZF-08 Execution Unit with the Base Zone project and which is currently under development and close to completion.

The good result of the work scheme carried out by the Free Trade Zone for the Base Zone unit will be the one that is carried out now as well, “reorganizing and generating new productive spaces and providing the resulting future plots with all the electrical, hydraulic, infrastructure services, sanitation, public lighting and telecommunications, among others,” González explained.

This new action ratifies Zona Franca's commitment to the transformation of the exterior industrial estate and follows in the wake of actions such as the aforementioned Blue Economy incubator project, Incubazul or the Navalips project, with the creation of a new neighborhood with more than 800 homes, 10,000 m2 of green areas and 28,000 m2 of commercial areas.

In this sense, Fran González has emphasized that progress is being made in full collaboration with the Cádiz City Council, "with which we work from the joint commitment to coordinate and expedite the necessary urban planning efforts to advance each action and jointly undertake the modernization of one of the most important areas for the economic activity and growth of the city."

In the next few days, the perimeter fencing of the plot will be placed with a simple twist mesh of two and a half meters and the installation of an access door made of the same material.

With the total demolition of the Pastoriza warehouses, the vestiges of an industry that dated back to the 70s of the last century come to an end. linked to the naval sector, where boiler works were carried out to manufacture blocks and other metal elements that make up ships. All types of materials, tools and consumables aimed at the same industrial sector were also sold.
