Cadiz, March 23, 2023

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has been present at World Maritime Week, a leading meeting of the international maritime sector that was held in Bilbao from March 21 to 23, which was attended by more than 2,000 congressmen and a hundred exhibitors and where the best professionals and companies related to the maritime industry sector in its different aspects and variants meet.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, accompanied by the director of Business Promotion and Foreign Trade, Rocío García-Delgado, has held various meetings with companies and institutions, providing valuable contacts, especially for the Blue Economy incubator, Incubazul, which is being developed by the Cádiz Consortium and which already has 46 startups hosted.

In fact, the presence of the Cádiz delegation at the World Maritime Week in Bilbao has generated contacts with different companies that could become allies for the incubator ecosystem. Fran González has had the opportunity to hold meetings with representatives of large companies such as Navantia and with others with high innovative content and closely linked to the activity of Incubazul such as Branka, which is manufacturing a marine drone powered by renewable energy to promote research at sea.

The part of the Congress dedicated to marine renewable energies, referring to the possibility of extracting the potential of waves, tides and currents, has had an interesting program of international conferences, exhibition area and networking.

The event has hosted in parallel the celebration of four international conferences referring to the naval (Sinaval), fishing (EuroFishing), port (FuturePort), and renewable energy sectors and themes, Ocean Energy Conference.

Fran González has pointed out that "a forum of these characteristics is of strategic importance for all of us who work with projects linked to the sea, such as the Cádiz Free Zone. The Bilbao maritime week has been a perfect setting for us that has allowed us to access knowledge and the latest technological advances, promote interaction between companies, reactivate commercial contacts and generate new business opportunities, while at the same time looking for possible allies to be part of the Incubazul ecosystem."

The Bilbao maritime week has surpassed the 2,000 attendees of the previous edition, as well as the hundred exhibitors who come encouraged by the driving effect of the extensive program of conferences with current topics of the four maritime congresses and private sectoral meetings of international organizations. It also includes an exhibition area and a large networking section.
