The meeting, framed in the celebration in Cádiz of the Language Congress, has discussed cross-border journalism in Morocco and commercial relations between Cádiz and Tangier
The Free Trade Zone has offered its support to the celebration of the linguistic milestone with different initiatives since it formally joined in February 2020.
In December 2021, the conference “Other capital gains from foreign trade” was organized, coordinated by the professor at the University of Seville, Lola Pons.
The Consortium will also join the #PonUnaPalabraEnTuBalcon campaign promoted by the Cádiz Press Association
Cadiz, March 14, 2023
The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has collaborated in the journalistic conferences organized by the Cádiz Press Association (APC) today in Tangier and Tetouan entitled Journalism with 'Ñ': cross-border journalism in the north of Morocco and commercial relations between the port cities of Cádiz and Tangier.
The delegate of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, Fran González, was in charge of opening the event together with Francisco Oda, director of the Cervantes Institute of Tetuán; Moustapha El Ghachi, dean of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at Abdelmaleek Essaadi University; Miguel Angel Noceda, president of the Federation of Associations of Journalists of Spain (FAPE); and Diego Calvo, president of the APC.
Fran González has pointed out that "from the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz we have been involved from minute one in the celebration of the Language Congress because we believe that the close relationship between language and commerce has enriched our city and our language. The commercial relations that have existed since ancient times in Cádiz have favored interculturality, offering a language rich in words and expressions."
“Sharing and contamination, that is precisely the spirit of the cross-border, because human relations and commercial transactions have probably been the means of all the enrichment we have had culturally and, therefore, linguistically, over the centuries,” said the person in charge of the Free Trade Zone.
These days have been framed in the events surrounding the celebration of the International Congress of the Spanish Language, which will take place in Cádiz from March 27 to 30, and have revolved around the roots of cross-border Spanish journalism in Morocco in general, between Ceuta and Tetouan in particular, and on commercial relations between the ports of Cádiz and Tangier.
In the morning, the meeting took place in Tetouan, with a round table, in which Abderrahman El Fathi, director of the Spanish department at the Abdelmaleek Essaadi University, participated; Juan José Téllez, journalist and writer; Abderrahim Zebbakh, director of the Tangier newspaper La Depeche 24h; Miguel Angel Noceda and Javier Chaparro, director of the Europa Sur newspaper. All of them will be moderated by Canal Sur journalist Soco López.
The event continues this afternoon in Tangier with another round table featuring Juan José Téllez, Younnes Mhajed, Nabil Driouch, journalist from Medi1 TV; Abderrahim Zebbakh, director of the Tangier newspaper La Depeche 24h; and Miguel Angel Noceda, with Lourdes Acosta, director of Cadena Ser in Cádiz as moderator.
The Cádiz Free Zone has supported from the first moment the candidacy and celebration of the Language Congress in the city of Cádiz and has joined the initiatives that are being promoted to promote and disseminate the event, which will mean an important cultural promotion and, as a consequence, the promotion of the socioeconomic development of the entire area of influence, one of the main premises of the activity of the Cádiz Free Zone.
The Consortium signed its adhesion to the candidacy in February 2020 after its unanimous approval by the Executive Committee on January 29, 2020. Since then, it has been part of the collaborating institutions and has been involved in the organization of events related to its responsibility as an entity that promotes the province's economy.
The delegate of the Cádiz Free Zone, Fran González, gave new impetus to gather support and in July 2021 the seven free zones in Spain signed the document of adhesion to Cádiz's candidacy. The explicit support of the seven entities for this proposal was carried out within a coordination meeting of the Spanish free zones, which was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, chaired by the Undersecretary of Finance of the Government of Spain, Pilar Paneque.
Another example of this active work of the Cádiz Institution was the celebration of the “Other capital gains from Foreign Trade” conference, which took place in December 2021, in which professors and professors from different parts of Spain debated the origins, present and perspective of the Spanish Language regarding commercial exchange with other continents.
Zona Franca will adhere to the actions promoted around Congress, such as the APC campaign Put a word on your balcony, in which the Consortium will place words from the Cádiz language in its windows, which will then be disseminated on social networks.
Another of the planned actions is the promotion of a campaign of some 500-1000 posters with words to distribute, also through the APC, and for Cadiz residents to hang them on their advantages and balconies.
