Free Trade Zone completes the demolition of Talleres Pastoriza

The end of the work allows the urbanization project of the UE-EX8 Execution Unit to begin and accelerate the development of the Base Zone

The plot of the old Pastoriza Workshops is now connected to the one occupied by Ibérica Aga and where the innovation and technological expansion center made up of maritime containers will go.

The company Construcciones y Excavaciones Erri Berri began the work in September and has met the scheduled deadlines

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has completed the demolition work of the old Pastoriza Workshops in what represents an important advance in the development of the execution unit that will house the Zona Base innovation and technological expansion center, where the Incubazul blue economy incubator will also be located.

Once the work is completed, the plot connects with that of the old Ibérica Aga and forms the UE-EX08 Execution Unit, which allows the urbanization project to begin and accelerate the development of the Base Zone project.

Zona Base Cádiz is a space that will host an innovation center in maritime containers and that, in its first phase, includes the high-tech incubator based on the blue economy, Incubazul, which is financed by funds granted by the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain Feder 2014-2020 “A way of making Europe” through the Incyde Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce, an incubator that is already operating in the Melkart building until that concludes the action of the outer polygon.

The work, carried out by the company Construcciones y Excavaciones Erri Berri for an amount of 47,500 euros, began in September and has followed the planned schedule.

The demolition has put an end to a very deteriorated image of this access area to the Cadiz capital, located at the confluence of Algeciras and Alcalde Sánchez Cossío streets in the outer zone of the Free Trade Zone. The construction dated from the early 70s of the 20th century and offered a decadent image.

Base Zone and the reorganization of the exterior polygon are priority lines of work for the Free Zone in this year 2021, for which it has the collaboration of the Cádiz City Council with whom it signed an agreement last October that contemplates, among other actions, the creation of modern and effective infrastructures to cover the development of the industrial zone of the city.

The development of this Execution Unit and the start-up of the Base Zone with the incubator inside is expected to serve as a catalyst for the entire area, while attracting industry 4.0 and technology companies and generating a space of opportunity for Cadiz talent.
