The City Council and the Cádiz institution will enable a park-and-ride in the outdoor area with a shuttle to the shops on the main avenue and the historic center.
The Cádiz City Council and the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium have joined forces, within the line of collaboration undertaken recently, to be able to collaborate with the Cádiz Open Shopping Center's Christmas campaign. Both institutions have been working on the implementation of a park-and-ride with a shuttle service to the main commercial centers of the city, so that people who want can leave their car in a parking lot in the outer area of the free zone and a bus will take them to the main avenue or the historic center so that they can do their Christmas shopping in complete peace of mind.
To this end, Zona Franca cedes to the Cádiz City Council for the duration of the campaign, the plot of land known as Talleres Faro, on Ronda de Vigilancia street and Tarifa street, so that it can be enabled as a specific parking lot to respond to the parking needs of people who want to go Christmas shopping without complications since they can leave their vehicles on this plot and they will be taken to the shopping area by public transport. In order to make this innovative service possible, both the City Council and the Free Zone have contributed with various options: thus, the Free Zone takes charge of 80% of the rent for the plot during the time of the campaign and the City Council contributes 20% and increases the frequency of bus line 5 so that it is an agile and effective service, in addition to preparing the land. Specifically, the Cádiz City Council is going to invest 11,000 euros in this refurbishment work, which it hopes will be used later for this same experience that will be launched for the first time this Christmas.
The work has a completion period of one week and, if everything goes according to forecasts and depending on the incidence of inclement weather on the ground, it will be ready as of December 21.
This is another line of collaboration between the City Council and the Free Trade Zone that is part of the recently signed collaboration protocol which included lines of work on parking. Both institutions have seen the need to collaborate with local businesses in this very special Christmas campaign, in addition to contributing to more sustainable and environmental measures in mobility management, promoting collective transport for the movement of people in the city.
