Mamen Sánchez and Victoria Rodríguez acquire the commitment in their first contact to work hand in hand “on real projects with transparency, solvency and rigor”
The Consortium is working on the public offer for the commercialization of the annex building of Las Caballerizas del Centro de San Agustín
Both administrations announce that “they will study possible solutions for the redevelopment works of the El Portal Industrial Estate”
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone, Victoria Rodríguez, and the mayor of Jerez, Mamen Sánchez, together with the deputy mayor responsible for Urban Planning, Francisco Camas, held a working meeting, in which the current situation of Free Zone projects in Jerez was addressed, such as the redevelopment works of the El Portal Industrial Park. The mayor has valued this meeting very positively, which has served as the first contact and in which “the will of both administrations to work to study possible solutions to pending issues that we inherited from the previous stage” has been revealed.
Victoria Rodríguez has expressed satisfaction with this first meeting between the Consortium and the Jerez City Council and has explained that, after studying in detail all the projects that Zona Franca has in the province, work is being done to define the strategy to follow and establish a work calendar that allows her to structure the actions of the Consortium.
Regarding the Convento San Agustín Business Center, he pointed out that "it is important for the city of Jerez to have this business space that contributes to the revitalization of the productive fabric. I know that the Zona Franca technicians work intensely to market the spaces, meeting the needs of the business community in the area and currently the occupancy is around 85%."
Regarding the Polígono El Portal, Victoria Rodríguez explained that "there are procedures in progress, so the times must be respected, but we are studying possible options, taking into account that there are businessmen who are being affected. Our intention is that companies suffer the consequences to the least possible extent."
Mamen Sánchez, for his part, has positively valued this first meeting with the recently appointed delegate, with which "we recovered relations with the Consortium, which were never broken by the City Council, but it is true that in recent years they have not wanted to talk to us about unfinished projects, such as the redevelopment of El Portal."
In this sense, they have announced that "starting today they will work hand in hand, with solvency, transparency and rigor, conveying realities to citizens, and not projects that cannot be carried out later, as happened in the previous stage."
In relation to the El Portal project, the mayor thanked the Free Zone delegate for “the good disposition shown to resume the dialogue on this matter and jointly address the situation of these works, as demanded by the citizens, and especially, the businessmen of the southern zone and the industrial estate.”
In relation to this, Mamen Sánchez has advanced that the Consortium will proceed to liquidate the agreement signed at the time for the redevelopment works of this industrial estate, since, as the Consortium delegate explained, "it is linked to Feder Funds whose framework expired in December 2015."
Regarding the Convento de San Agustín Business Center, the mayor has also announced that Zona Franca is working on putting the annex building of the Stables up for public bid soon.
Likewise, during the meeting the City Council presented possible formulas for collaboration between both administrations to seek financing and aid for the development of land for economic activities in Jerez, as is the case of the Pastranilla and Carrerista industrial estates.
