The Consortium's Contracting Body has positively evaluated the documentation presented and has awarded the Spanish electric scooter manufacturing company more than 5,000 m2 in a ship of ancient Altadis
Likewise, the Executive Committee of ZF has today authorized the tender for the cleaning and repair works of said warehouse for its commissioning and the start of activity during autumn 2018.
The implementation of Torrot in ZF will mean the creation of 200 direct and indirect jobs and an investment of more than 12 million euros
The Consortium and Torrot maintain contacts as the company plans to expand its facilities in ZF to form a large complex with the industrial factory and offices
It is already a fact. A new investment comes to the Bay through the productive spaces of the Free Trade Zone. The Consortium has awarded the company Velocípedo Torrot S.L. the lease of the warehouse called “Old Tobacco Manufacturing Warehouse”, PFC warehouse, located on the land of the former Altadis incorporated into the tax precinct last year. The Torrot factory in Cádiz will occupy an area of more than 5,000 m2 in the aforementioned ship.
As announced last week, Torrot had chosen, through Public Offer 15/17 opened by ZF, a warehouse located in the Free Trade Zone to launch a manufacturing and marketing plant for electric velocipedes. Once all the documentation presented has been verified, the ZF Contracting Board has favorably assessed the technical and commercial viability of the company's offer to settle in the tax area. These facilities are in addition to the offices that the motorcycle company will also occupy in the Melkart building, already awarded and whose contract was also signed a few days ago by the State delegate, Alfonso Pozuelo.
In parallel, the ZF Executive Committee meeting today has put out to tender some work to clean up and repair the warehouse to be able to put it into use, among which carpentry will be carried out on the roof and façade; general cleaning of the building or electrical installation, among other works that will be simultaneous with the adaptation works for the activity that will correspond to Torrot.
The report presented by the company to apply for the ZF warehouse reflects the importance of this project for the area: With a main activity focused on the automated manufacturing of electric vehicles, it has a forecast of job creation of more than 200 jobs between direct and indirect employment and an investment of more than 12 million euros.
The arrival of Torrot to the Free Trade Zone materializes months of work and contacts between both parties to consolidate a new investment in Cádiz, through the new productive spaces that were generated as a result of the expansion of the tax area. In this sense, the Fiscal Institution and the motorcycle company maintain contacts to expand the facilities already contracted in other ZF spaces in Cádiz, which will form a large complex with the industrial factory and offices.
For Zona Franca, Torrot's commitment to the city and its facilities is very important since it constitutes the spearhead for other large companies with which it has contact so that they can also establish themselves in the area.
The arrival of Torrot is a stimulus to continue promoting the arrival of investments in the Free Zone that generate wealth and employment in the Bay and that strengthen the competitiveness of the business fabric through technological and innovative production processes.
