Jorge Ramos, delegate of the Consortium, and Fernando José Mejías, dean-president of the architects, sign an agreement for the organization of the Exhibition “Eduardo Torroja and his proposals for the Bay of Cádiz”
Last August, both institutions already signed a protocol of intentions to jointly develop activities around training, business programs and research projects, among others.
The exhibition will show the public the two projects of the famous engineer from the late 1920s from which the idea of having a free zone in the city arose.
The Special Delegate of the State in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the dean-president of the Official College of Architects of Cádiz (COACa), Fernando José Mejías, signed a collaboration agreement on Friday at the Consortium's Headquarters building to jointly carry out the organization of the exhibition "Eduardo Torroja and his proposals for the Bay of Cádiz."
The exhibition, whose curator will be the architect and professor Ricardo Sánchez Lampreave, will show the public the two projects that the famous engineer Eduardo Torroja presented on the Bay of Cádiz in the 1920s and which were the precedent for large and important works for the city such as the Carranza Bridge and the Free Trade Zone.
In this way, the exhibition will collect the details of the projects presented by Torroja in which the construction of a bridge that would cross the Bay without having to go around it was contemplated, in addition to a large port for Cádiz that would formalize the capital's aspiration to have a large Free Trade Zone.
The objective of the exhibition will be the dissemination of a chapter of utmost importance in the history and development of the city for which until now there was no graphic documentation compiled.
This exhibition is part of the Protocol of Intentions signed by the Free Trade Zone and the College of Architects on August 1, by which both organizations will carry out joint initiatives and activities based on common training and advice; the development of business programs; and participation in research programs, among others.
The collaboration protocol includes that for the development of each specific action, a specific agreement will be signed that details the objectives pursued with said action, the action program and the regime for its development, and the financial report required, if applicable.
