The I phase of the adaptation works of the Alestis warehouse in the Free Zone Tax Precinct is completed

The Consortium makes part of the facilities of the old League Preparation Plant (PPL) available to the aeronautical company so that it can begin the operations of transferring goods.

In the first phase – which lasted less than two months – the roofs have been reconditioned and the flooring in half of the ship has been adapted; and a platform for unloading and another for loading trucks has been developed, among other works

The second phase, already underway and scheduled for completion in October, will complete the work on the pavement, the roofs, electrical and fire installations and on the platforms and ramps.

The works, carried out by Construcciones Sánchez Domínguez-Sando SA, are intended to adapt the plant to form a 13,500 m logistics center2

In parallel to these works, Zona Franca completed the adaptation of the offices of the building annex to the logistics center and the improvement in access and the demolition of part of the perimeter fencing between the premises and the old Altadis

The start of the activity of the Alestis company in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz may now be a reality after the completion of the first phase of the works that are adapting and modernizing the 13,500 m industrial warehouse2, located on the land of the old Altadis, already incorporated as a fiscal precinct for the aeronautical company to form a large logistics center in Cádiz.

Thus, complying with the planned schedule, the Consortium has carried out the first part of the work that was put out to tender in May with the aim of adapting the old warehouse called PPL (League Preparation Plant) for the storage and logistics management of aeronautical elements, both assembled and elementary parts and assemblies.

It should be remembered that the works are being undertaken in two phases in order to enable the implementation of Alestis' activity as quickly as possible. For this reason, Zona Franca has already made part of the facilities available once the work is completed so that the aeronautical company can begin the operations of transferring its goods.

In the first phase, the pavement in the middle of the warehouse has been adapted, part of the flat and inclined roofs have been reconditioned and a platform for truck unloading and another for truck loading and access ramps to the warehouse for truck circulation inside it have been developed, overcoming a 2-meter difference in level. The main structure of the ship has also been treated with fire-resistant paint.

During the second phase, already advanced and scheduled to end in October, work on the pavement, roofs, electrical and fire protection installations, as well as the completion of platforms and ramps will be completed.

In parallel to the work on the warehouse, carried out by Construcciones Sánchez Domínguez-Sando SA, Zona Franca has also completed the adaptation of offices in the 300 m2 building attached to the warehouse, and the demolition of part of the separation fence between the old Altadis and the current premises. All these works represent an investment of 1.3 million euros by the Zona Franca to attract investments to the new productive space generated on the land of the old tobacco factory and which already make up the Cádiz tax area, which has grown from 330,000 m2 a 486.881 m2 of surface with all the customs and fiscal advantages inherent to the Free Zone.

It must be remembered that the expansion of the tax area has been the result of an intense and complex processing process, starting from the decision to expand and expand the Free Trade Zone in Cádiz and the province and once the Consortium acquired the land from the former tobacco company in June 2015.

With all this, the Cádiz tax area has become an important business and industrial focus for attracting investments to the Bay, providing new productive spaces with customs and tax advantages to favor the establishment of new companies.
