The Minister of Employment and Social Security, Fátima Báñez, praised the work carried out by Zona Franca de Cádiz and the activity of the companies installed there during the commissioning ceremony of the new Harinera Vilafranquina factory in the Interior Area of the Zone. Franca from Cádiz.
The minister presided over the event accompanied by the Government delegate in Andalusia, Antonio Sanz; the State delegate in the Free Zone, Jorge Ramos; the mayor of Cádiz, José María González; the deputy delegate of the Government, Javier de Torre; the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Cádiz, Fernando López Gil; the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, José Luis Blanco; and the rector of the University of Cádiz, Eduardo González Mazo; among other civil and military authorities. Also present were the person in charge of the plant in Cádiz, Jose Rivero; and José Alemany, deputy general director of the company.
Fátima Báñez showed her satisfaction with the activity of Harinera Vilafranquina in particular and in the facility in general, while congratulating Cádiz and the people of Cádiz for their work and effort.
The representative of the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, was satisfied with the new equipment, congratulated those responsible for the plant and highlighted the work of Harinera Vilafranquina, one of the historic companies of the Interior Precinct, which with this expansion of facilities will generate an important economic activity, by increasing the storage capacity of the agri-food company by 7,933 m3, with the consequent increase in its competitiveness and its reflection in the city's business environment.
Jorge Ramos highlighted that now more than ever the expansion and expansion project of the Tax Precinct that the Free Trade Zone has undertaken is important, “because the current one is already full” and there is a great need for space for the establishment of companies. The delegate thanked the support of the Government of Spain, which has allowed significant investments to be made throughout the province.
The Free Zone delegate was convinced that “it is time for entrepreneurs in Cádiz” and encouraged them in their daily effort and work because “the present is good but the future will be even better.”
Jorge Ramos insisted once again on the importance of collaboration between institutions, a line of work of the Free Zone and that is allowing the carrying out of the great expansion and expansion project that is called to convert the Free Zone in the next 2-4 years in the first productive center of the province of Cádiz.
The person in charge of Harinera Vilafranquina in Cádiz pointed out that this new facility is a magnificent tool to gain competitiveness and continue growing in the Bay of Cádiz and in the Free Trade Zone, where Harinera corresponds with innovation, employment and more activity.
Rivero highlighted that the start-up of the silo warehouse generates improvements in the company's activity such as the optimization of food safety; advantages in the ability to optimize flour; and finally improvements in the organization and planning of grinding.
The mayor of Cádiz showed his enthusiasm that the silo ship is very good news for the city of Cádiz and the Bay and symbolizes the importance of institutional collaboration, dialogue and understanding to provide solutions to citizens' problems and, above all, to generate employment in the area.
It should be remembered that the works were awarded to the joint venture Sacyr Construcciones SA-Pérez Jiménez Construcciones, for an amount of 11,145,520.50 euros (VAT not included). The construction consisted of an installation of aerial metal silos intended for the collection of flour, with an area of 631.28 m2 and a maximum height of 47.10 meters. This silo module is adjacent to the existing grain warehouses although separated from the flour production building and connected only by an aerial walkway at the top.
The first level will be used for truck loading, clean production area, access, warehouses and compressor room. The following levels will be used for machinery and process equipment, while the last level will be used to fill the silos.
The start-up of this new equipment, which has involved an investment of 14 million euros co-financed by funds requested in the Feder Operational Framework 2017-2013, shows once again the support and work of Zona Franca to promote the implementation of companies that result in economic activity and the creation of jobs.
Harinera Vilafranquina is one of the historic companies in the Interior Area and has 92 workers, of which 96% have an indefinite employment contract, and the average seniority of the staff exceeds 13 years.
The industrial complex that the company has in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz is fully consolidated. Its growth and expansion proves this and in Cádiz alone the investment volume has exceeded 50 million euros. The new silo warehouse commissioned today is the icing on the cake and will make this facility a world reference.
