The Special Delegate of the State in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, participated this morning, accompanied by part of his management team, in the meeting of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar, where the projects for the Region were analyzed in the context of the ITI (Integrated Territorial Initiative) in the new community support framework 2014-2020.

During the meeting, the importance of collaboration between institutions was highlighted to carry out projects that generate economic activity and consequently employment in the area and ways of cooperation were analyzed through aid to co-finance initiatives in the field of Campo de Gibraltar.

At this point, the president of the Campo-Gibraltar entity, Luis Angel Fernández, highlighted the important role that the Consortium is carrying out in the Region, creating infrastructure and equipment to strengthen the business fabric, with an investment balance that amounts to 68 million euros since 2012.

For his part, Ramos emphasized that this investment activity in Campo de Gibraltar will increase in the coming years, since the Consortium is immersed in the expansion project to new tax precincts in the province, a project very advanced in the municipality of Los Barrios, where Zona Franca has 140,000 m2 in El Fresno in which works are expected to begin for the installation of companies in the next three months, once a favorable opinion is issued by the Council. Consultative of Andalusia on the Specific Modification of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) of Los Barrios.

It is worth remembering that Zona Franca joined this organization in November of last year due to its outstanding role as a promoter of economic activity in the Region, where in addition to the expansion of the Fiscal Precinct to the land of El Fresno, it will also carry out its implementation on a plot of Cortijo Real, in Algeciras, and is working on the search for suitable land in La Línea, where it has also expedited the procedures for the development of a Business Center that will be an emblematic building in the Region, with 15 stories high.
