José María Román and Jorge Ramos held a first institutional meeting, in which the offer of municipal land for a Free Trade Zone industrial site in Chiclana was also discussed.
The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, and the State delegate in the Free Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, held a first institutional meeting this afternoon, in which they discussed various aspects related to the Free Zone in the town. Thus, in this meeting, requested by the Chiclana councilor, they have addressed issues such as the marketing and implementation of the Business Center that is being carried out in Higinio or the possibility of creating a Free Trade Zone industrial site in Chiclana.
In this sense, José María Román has shown his interest in learning first-hand about the marketing process of the premises of the new Business Center that Zona Franca will soon open in Higinio. In this way, it is worth highlighting that interested parties will be able to submit their offers for any of the 18 offices available until next September 10, with the aim that the business community can begin its activity in the shortest possible time once the works are completed, an issue that is planned in the coming days. Thus, given the advanced state of the works, Jorge Ramos has expressed to the mayor his intention to inaugurate the center throughout the month of September.
It must be remembered that the Iro Business Center has an area of 1,800 square meters and involves an investment of about 2.9 million euros, co-financed with European Funds for Regional Development (ERDF). Thus, the building will be made up of 18 offices located on the first floor, which will have a total area of between 25 and 50 square meters. In addition, the center will have 875 square meters of commercial premises on its ground floor, which will be distributed depending on the space needs of the entrepreneurs. In this way, at the meeting it was agreed that, depending on the level of occupancy of the premises, the need for further actions in this regard would be raised.
On the other hand, the mayor has conveyed to the Free Zone delegate in Cádiz the City Council's disposition so that Chiclana can have a Free Zone industrial site in the town. In this way, Román has stressed "the importance of considering an industrial site in Chiclana, since it is a fundamental strategic space, a few kilometers from the port of Cádiz and close to the Jerez-Los Barrios highway. In addition, it would be very important for the new economy, with the aim of reducing its high unemployment rate." "And, of course, Chiclana currently has land available for this, as is the case with Miralrío or El Carrascal," explained José María Román, who stressed that, "just as we have conveyed to the Provincial Council the need to consolidate the industrial sector on the occasion of the Navantia Round Table, it is also important that Chiclana can have an important industrial site."
Jorge Ramos, for his part, has reiterated the willingness of Zona Franca de Cádiz to collaborate in all those actions that generate economic activity and consequently employment, which is why he has announced that in the next few days Zona Franca technicians will contact technicians from the Chiclana City Council to see the urban situation of the different available lands as well as their suitability to be able to locate an industrial site in this town.
