The non-profit institution will occupy a total area of 2,400 m2 distributed in 4 warehouses, to which a bonus will be applied to the income for carrying out a purpose of public utility.
The Food Bank will unify its logistics center in these modules from which it will provide all free food distribution services to Bahía and other municipalities in the province.
The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has approved the installation in four of the nest warehouses that it has available in Bajo de la Cabezuela (Puerto Real) of the Food Bank of Cádiz, from where this non-profit institution will centralize all its work of free food distribution and distribution.
Specifically, the Food Bank will occupy warehouses 7, 8, 11 and 12, all of which have a surface area of almost 600 m2, integrated into the set of nest warehouses that the Consortium has in Bajo de la Cabezuela and which have been selected within the assets of the Free Zone in the outer area so that they can host associations declared of public utility, or that allocate the property to the realization of purposes of public utility or social interest, or associations that, without profit, provide services to entrepreneurs or companies. Thus, this institution will use the aforementioned equipment with a reduction in the rental rate, within the framework of the special bonuses included in the rates for the 2015-2016 financial year approved by the Executive Committee.
In these four warehouses, the Food Bank will locate its logistics center for the entire Bay and for the rest of the municipalities in the province that it covers, unifying the reception and distribution of food from Bajo de la Cabezuela, as well as the supply, storage, transportation, distribution and administration areas. With this, collection will be optimized above all, expanding the surface available for specific collection campaigns and multiplying the reception of food and, finally, its shipment from a strategic location in the Bay.
With these types of measures, the Cádiz Consortium addresses a social work that is also included in its Statutes - "the socioeconomic development of its area of influence" - and from which other organizations such as the Red Cross, in the Outdoor Industrial Estate of the Free Trade Zone, or Cáritas Diocesana, in the Interior Area, have also benefited.
