Zona Franca and Vejer City Council sign an agreement for the construction of a parking lot in the municipality

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Vejer, José Ortiz, signed an agreement this morning at City Hall for the construction and subsequent operation of a parking lot in the basement of the municipality's Los Remedios park, under an administrative concession regime.

The signed agreement is part of the collaboration between institutions to make the most of synergies and carry out specific projects aimed at strengthening the business fabric, favoring the economic revitalization and economic and social development of a municipality.

Thus, the completion of this project between the Consortium and the Vejer Town Hall will mean the maximum use of a public infrastructure, the Los Remedios Park, in the basement of which a municipal-owned parking lot is planned to be located that will respond to the lack of this type of services in the town and, therefore, will have a real and direct impact on the economic and social activity of Vejer, being even more necessary if possible as it is a tourist reference municipality at a national level.
“Governing when there is money is easy, but in this time of difficulties for all administrations, that the Free Trade Zone, dependent on the Government of the Nation, is committed to this investment, is something we all have to be happy about,” declared the mayor.

The signing of this protocol is the first step to carry out this project as soon as possible, which is why both technicians from the Free Trade Zone and the City Council are working to finalize an executive agreement that will give way to the bidding for the works. Along these lines, Ortiz stated that "this way another of the commitments we made with the town of Vejer is met, this being of utmost importance to alleviate the shortage of parking, all in the high tourist season."

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone contributes to this action its experience in other similar ones in the Cadiz capital such as the Loreto underground parking, with 451 spaces; the Glorieta, with 295 spaces and the Carranza, which has a capacity for 744 parking spaces.

It is worth remembering that the collaboration between both institutions has already borne fruit with the construction of a Business Center on the “Buenavista 1” plot, whose works, which are co-financed by Funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013, began last December and are progressing at a good pace, with completion scheduled for the last quarter of this year.
