Zona Franca participated in the XVI World Economy Meeting held at the University of Cádiz

The general director of the Free Zone, Jose Manuel Fedriani, participated in the round table titled “The role of ports in the world economy” during the XVI World Economy Meeting that was held at the University of Cádiz and in which the logistics and port issue was discussed in depth.
Fedriani, accompanied by the deputy mayor of the Cádiz City Council, Bruno García, explained details and highlighted the strengths of the Southern European Logistics Platform, an initiative promoted by the mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, and put into operation by the Free Zone and the city councils of Cádiz, Jerez, Chiclana, El Puerto de Santa María and Algeciras and the Provincial Council of Cádiz.
The representatives of the Free Zone and Cádiz City Council shared a table with Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio Ramos, director of Logistics and Transport Areas of the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia, with Patricio de la Osa, representative of the company Bernardino Abad, and Agustín Romero, director of Planning and Operation of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz.
The general director of the Free Zone highlighted the importance of having a facility of this type in the province of Cádiz and explained that the Cádiz Consortium is going to expand to other municipalities in the province so that companies have first-class production centers, also taking into account the customs and tax advantages and the possibility of financing with Feder Funds, of which the Free Zone is an intermediate organization.
In front of about forty people, Jose Manuel Fedriani outlined the potential of the Logistics Platform and explained that Cádiz must be made known nationally and internationally as a first-rate logistics enclave because, among other things, "our province must be the natural entrance to Ibero-America."
The general director of Zona Franca added that the institutions involved in the project and those that join in the future “must create a brand and make our potential known at all levels.”
The World Economy Meeting, organized annually by the World Economy Society (SEM) in collaboration with different universities, is an international forum where research on the world economy is presented and discussed, from multiple economic perspectives.
It constitutes, therefore, an important event to promote the exchange of ideas between researchers, academics, students and other professionals interested in global economic analysis and in the current edition it has dedicated special attention to the global dimension of territorial development.
The World Economy Society is a scientific association founded at the I World Economy Meeting, held at the University of Huelva in 1999. In the following years the World Economy Society has grown and strengthened, rapidly internationalizing with members throughout the world. Currently, its members include academics, researchers, businessmen, consultants and international officials.
