Free Zone and Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce sign an agreement to improve business competitiveness

Jorge Ramos, delegate of the Free Trade Zone and Carlos Fenoy, president of the Chamber, sign the agreement in the presence of the mayor of the city, José Ignacio Landaluce

The initiative is aimed at promoting the business fabric, improving the management of SMEs and promoting self-employment

The Cádiz Free Zone Consortium and the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce signed a collaboration agreement yesterday Friday for the development of training programs aimed at improving the business management of small and medium-sized companies and promoting self-employment, business creation and business initiatives. The agreement, whose signature was authorized by the Executive Committee of the Free Zone held on March 13, will develop several lines of action, within the framework of the Training programs approved by the Chamber through the INCYDE Foundation “Creation and Consolidation of Companies and Self-employment” and “Improving Trade Competitiveness”, both co-financed by the European Social Fund.

The agreement, signed by the delegate of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the president of the Chamber, Carlos Fenoy, in an event that was attended by the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, is aimed at people who, having a business idea, want to create their own company, as well as those companies that want to develop through entrepreneur training.

Specifically, the agreement will allow more than 500 hours of highly specialized training to be provided in three programs over the next few months: in April, the “Algeciras Business Creation and Consolidation and Self-Employment Program” begins with headquarters in Algeciras; The “La Línea de la Concepción micro-SMEs improvement program” will begin in May; and in October the “Tarifa micro-SMEs improvement program”.

The programs are aimed, on the one hand, at entrepreneurs who, starting from an international business idea, want to develop it and put it into practice by creating their own company; and, on the other hand, to small and medium-sized companies that want to improve the profitability of their company or evaluate other alternatives for international expansion.

During the event, Jorge Ramos expressed his satisfaction with this agreement that will co-finance an initiative aimed at supporting businessmen and entrepreneurs in the region. “It is a commitment that we make from the Free Trade Zone to support the regional business fabric, also encouraging international initiatives and the creation of companies,” said the delegate.

For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Fenoy, highlighted: "This year, together with the business creation and consolidation program, we are going to repeat the course to improve commercial competitiveness that we already carried out with great acceptance in Algeciras last year, in collaboration on that occasion with its City Council. In this year, the agreement with Zona Franca will allow us to also offer this possibility in La Línea and Tarifa, in line with our commitment to supporting the regional commercial fabric."

This agreement maintains the line of collaboration that Zona Franca has had for several years with the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, with which it has launched programs always aimed at promoting the business community and, above all, promoting self-employment and the birth of new business projects.
