The Special Delegate of the State in the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium, Jorge Ramos, visited the city of Algeciras this morning where, accompanied by the mayor of the town, José Ignacio Landaluce and part of his Government team, he visited the construction works of the new administrative building next to the Chamber of Commerce and the Cortijo Real plot, where he proposed to the first mayor the possibility of carrying out a project of a biomass plant for the creation of clean energy, a project environmentally approved by the European Union and which is being studied to be included in the framework of community aid 2014-2020.
The mayor has welcomed this initiative and the Free Trade Zone has been ordered to present a preliminary study for the development of the aforementioned project within a period of approximately 60 days.
During his stay in Algeciras, and once the work on the new administrative building had been supervised, Ramos met with the president of the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Fenoy, in order to jointly launch training actions for entrepreneurs.
Jorge Ramos began the day in Los Barrios, where, accompanied by the general director of Zona Franca, José Manuel Fedriani and part of his management team, he visited the town's Town Hall with the aim of advancing in the development of the protocol of intentions signed on April 25 and turning it into an executive agreement for the comprehensive improvement of the Palmones Parque Empresarial Los Barrios.
The delegate held a first institutional meeting with Jorge Romero, and with the first deputy mayor, David Gil, in which the contents of the aforementioned agreement were discussed. Subsequently, another specifically technical meeting was held, in which staff from both institutions analyzed the different actions included in the reform of the business park, whose investment amounts to 3.7 million euros, an amount that will be financed 70% by a subsidy from the FEDER Funds within the Operational Program “Andalusia 2007-2013”.
The initiative promoted by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium in the municipality of Barreño includes 38 actions, which can be classified into three groups: strengthening the urban structure; the improvement of service infrastructures and the enhancement of the global image, actions that will redesign, improve and, in some cases, create new spaces, in order to correct obsolete infrastructure over the years and will modernize and energize some industrial estates that attract population from the entire Campo de Gibraltar region. It should be noted that the works would also result in a comprehensive improvement of the surroundings of the Business Park, owned by a company owned by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, a park through which the Consortium has been established in the municipality since 2003 and which sits on an area of 312,000 square meters.
