The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has acquired the plot on which the old Super Cádiz was located, in the Exterior Industrial Estate of the Free Trade Zone, at the confluence of Magallanes and Avenida de la Illustration streets.
The site, with a surface area of 2,238 square meters, has a 3,400-meter warehouse on two floors, a property for which the Consortium has already begun the procedures for its demolition, in order to generate a site that will allow the beginning of its redevelopment.
The purchase of the old “Super Cádiz”, which has a loan from the Ministry of Industry for Reindustrialization Aid, is part of the important remodeling process of this area of the city, included in the PGOU, whose management is in charge of the OPEX -Office for the Attraction of Investments in the Outdoor Industrial Estate of the Free Trade Zone-, a joint office between the Consortium and the City Council.
This operation, together with the land in the process of acquisition of Navalips and other plots in different locations, will allow the Consortium to increase its participation coefficient in this Execution Unit (UE-02-Manuel de la Pinta), a fact that will be fundamental for the proper development of its redevelopment, given that the aforementioned unit is based on a very fragmented property in which numerous owners coexist with very diverse activities that has made its development difficult.
It is worth remembering that the Consortium has built the Europa Building in the Interior Campus, an office building that has 17 industrial warehouses for the relocation of companies that need to relocate their activity to begin the reorganization of their execution unit.
Since 2011, OPEX has carried out a thorough diagnostic work on the situation in which the outer industrial estate of the Free Trade Zone is located, and has divided what will be the main urban planning operation of the city for the coming years into 15 execution units, in which the 515,000 m2 of the industrial estate are distributed.
