The State delegate in the Cádiz Consortium, Fran González, will speak in one of the round tables entitled “The value of sustainability in a global world”, which will be attended by the deputy permanent representative of Spain in the FAO, Fernando Miranda; with the expert in sustainability and ESG aspects and independent consultant, Mari Luz Castilla; and with the director of Communication and Sustainability of Unilever Spain, Ana Palencia; acting as moderator Oscar Hernández, director of Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability of the Pascual Group and president of Ecoembes Comerciales.

In this forum, Fran González will present the new industry model developed by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone in which innovation, sustainability and the Blue Economy serve as central axes and will also report on the Decarbonization Plan of the Cádiz Institution and its progress in that regard, with the recovery of a Cádiz salt mine as a blue carbon pilot project to offset its CO2 footprint.

Within the framework of this international forum held in Barcelona, the Blue Core project will also be shown, which will have its own stand in which the activity carried out in the field of the Blue Economy linked to the food sectors will be displayed.

In fact, six of the startups that work on activities related to food at Incubazul-Blue Core will also be in the exhibitor area and one of them will make a presentation. They will be Salaria, which extracts artisanal salt in a sustainable way, offering a natural product with many organoleptic and nutritional benefits; Productos La Salá, which produces innovative products based on salicornia collected in the Bahía de Cádiz natural park; Escaramujo Wines, underwater winery; Marisma Biomed, develops functional foods and food supplements with ingredients from the marsh; Flavoom, dedicated to the production and distribution of homemade, vegan and sustainable vegetable sauces and preserves; and SeaBites, natural pet foods with seafood.

The State delegate, Fran González, has highlighted the importance of the presence of Zona Franca de Cádiz, Blue Core and the six startups at the Agri-Food Summit "which will give visibility to the Institution's projects linked to the Blue Economy and will lead to generating new contact opportunities in one of the main international forums of the food sector, as it is held within the framework of Alimentaria, one of the great international references of the industry."

And the Alimentaria fair is a meeting point to which the first exhibitors and visitors joined in 1976 and which, currently, brings together the entire value chain of the food industry. Thus, promoting the evolution and transformation of the industry and reflecting its progress, Alimentaria has established itself as one of the great international references.
