The Blue Zone Forum-Innovazul 2024 will have a space dedicated exclusively to the presence of women in the Blue Economy sector, which aims to give visibility to the important role that women have developed and continue to play in the blue sector.
This space will be called the Blue Women Forum and will take place on Friday, November 22, the last day of the great Blue Economy meeting that will begin on the 20th at the Palacio de Congresos and will bring together national and international experts from the sector in Cádiz.
The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the intervention of the well-known meteorologist Mercedes Martín. The Blue Women Forum will take place next, which will be distributed in two parts and will last until 12:45 p.m. The first part will be represented by scientists and will be carried out by the University of Cádiz and the CEI-Mar Foundation, with figures belonging to the Department of Biology of the UCA itself, the Oceanographic Center of Cádiz or the Oceanographic Center of Gijón.
The second part, led by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone and Incubazul, will delve deeply into the business and entrepreneurial world in the field of the Blue Economy and will feature the presence of businesswomen, some of them linked to projects that are They are consolidating in Incubazul, where entrepreneurship and female talent stand out.
Zona Franca de Cádiz, with Incubazul, and the University of Cádiz and CEI-Mar have wanted to give visibility to women in this great event that they carry out jointly, focusing on the relevance of female talent as a driving force for the advancement of this sector strategic, which has a profound social, economic and environmental impact.
The female role in the Blue Economy sector and in activities linked to the sea has been fundamental since ancient times, with activities such as netting, shellfish harvesting, packaging, etc., although it was not until the 90s of the last century when women gained access. to professions traditionally occupied by men. Currently, female talent has prevailed and the role of women is fundamental to guarantee a more sustainable, egalitarian and inclusive model, in which research and blue entrepreneurship becomes a strategic issue.
