Free Trade Zone extends the concession of the Customs Warehouse (DALSE) in the Port of Algeciras until 2033

The company, 50% owned by the Bernardino Abad logistics group, is consolidated, maintaining the results of the previous 2020 and becoming the main logistics operator of dry goods within the Algeciras port.

These results have made it possible to invest in digitalization, commitment to sustainability and labor improvements, so that it can continue to advance in competitiveness to face new challenges.

DALSE is located at the Isla Verde Pier where it has about 12,000 m2 warehouse, with 10 loading docks - three for refrigerated merchandise - bi-temperature chambers and machinery for sealing bottles

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has obtained the extension until October 2033 of the concession of the Free Warehouse that it manages in the Port of Algeciras, an important procedure that will allow the Consortium to continue managing these facilities at the Isla Verde Dock through the Customs and Logistics Warehouse Southern Europe. DALSE is a company owned 50% by the Free Trade Zone - through its company Desarrollos Empresariales DEZF - and 50% by the company Bernardino Abad, which is located at the Isla Verde Dock, in the Port of Algeciras, and is dedicated to value-added logistics services and the warehouse of goods, managing an exempt area with tax and tariff benefits provided by the different customs authorizations, assimilating it to free zones. It has approximately more than 12,000 meters of warehouse, ten loading docks - three for refrigerated merchandise, a bi-temperature chamber and machinery for bottle sealing.

The expansion of this concession allows us to establish strategies to consolidate the company and advance in new lines, as has been addressed during a Board of Directors of the entity that was held days ago with the participation of the State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, accompanied by the president of DALSE, Felipe Martínez, and part of the Free Trade Zone management team. Bernardino Copano, CEO of Bernardino Abad, and Javier Copano, general director of Bernardino Abad, also attended.

To this end, a significant investment has been made this year in the company, aimed precisely at increasing its competitiveness with a view to the coming years, so that close to 100,000 euros have been allocated to fundamental strategic lines for its growth and development such as : the digitalization of transactions, the commitment to sustainability and the work improvement of the workforce.

This investment, the most important of the last stage, has been possible precisely thanks to the fact that Dalse has maintained good results for another year, consolidating the growth recorded last year despite the exceptional circumstances of the sector and the world economy. Thus, during 2021, Dalse has maintained its turnover thanks to the activity of 120 clients, 95% of which are freight forwarders and customs agents who hire the company's services as a link in the supply chain to which it provides added value. of the management of customs figures within logistics. The remaining 5% are importers and exporters, distributors who are owners of the merchandise. Thus, turnover has once again exceeded one million euros thanks to maintaining efficiency and resource planning in warehouse operations.

The progress made in terms of personnel will contribute to this line of continuous improvement, not only the approval of the new collective agreement, but also the new distribution of the workforce with extended hours on daily and weekend days, establishing continued opening on Mondays. to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10:15 p.m., and the activity of the facilities. Other personnel improvements that will contribute to increasing efficiency are the consolidation of the workforce, reducing the hiring of temporary workers to enhance hiring by the company.

93% of the income comes from its own warehouse operations, of which seven out of ten were regular operations, which reinforces the work carried out by Dalse. Income from operations by freight forwarders has grown in percentage weight, going from 5.5% to 6.8%. During this time, 8,910 operations have been carried out, between containers and trucks, which has meant a quarterly handling of 222,750 pallets with an average occupancy of 95%

Likewise, DALSE has customs authorizations for different types of deposits with their corresponding tariff and tax benefits. During 2020, it has been active in the four types of authorized warehouses and in all of them it has acted as a regulatory warehouse for merchandise for distribution in the EU and third countries. Among these warehouses are the ADT/TG Temporary Deposit Warehouse, imports for distribution in Europe (textile, wood, construction, food, sugar, household appliances), among others, which have not had payment of tariffs or internal taxes or other security measures. commercial policy and which has had a slight decrease due to the decline in the automotive sector due to lack of components; the Distinct Customs Warehouse (DDA), which has meant the consolidation of community merchandise for export, without having to bear VAT on intermediate sales (food in general, drugstores, cheeses, oils, etc.; and imports of raw materials) and which has grown by 18% compared to 2020. The figures continue with the Fiscal Warehouse of Alcoholic Beverages and Public Customs Warehouse. For all operations, it also has authorization for health registration from the Junta de Andalucía, which guarantees operations in the food sector.
