Free Zone and Los Barrios City Council reach an agreement to resolve an agreement blocked since 2007

The collaboration between both institutions allows the settlement of the agreement that was signed for the development of actions in Fresno Norte

SayAs agreed, the Consortium paid 2.5 million euros at the time and the City Council had to develop the land and deliver it to the Free Trade Zone, which has not happened in these 14 years.

The agreed solution allows the fiscal institution to recover that amount and the City Council to have the land for its use.

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz and the Los Barrios City Council have resolved an old collaboration agreement between the two entities, signed in 2007, and which had become obsolete as the terms described had not been met and both administrations considered that investment priorities have completely changed in these 14 years.

Thanks to the collaboration between both institutions, the settlement of the agreement has been agreed, which means that the Consortium will recover 2.5 million euros paid at the time to the Barrio City Council for a plot in Fresno Norte in which the City Council had to carry out a series of actions to make it available to the Free Trade Zone, although changes in the management teams of both organizations meant that the years went by without any of the actions included in the document being carried out.

Thus, the City Council has provided for payment through the Planning Fund of the Ministry of Finance for municipalities with a more delicate financial situation; and the City Council keeps the land to be able to use it for new projects.

The climate of understanding and collaboration of both administrations has currently made it possible to reach the resolution of this agreement, which represents a very valuable economic injection for the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, currently in the midst of putting into operation the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct, precisely located in this municipality.

In fact, both administrations have worked together on marketing actions for the tax area, whose Public Offer is in force, which will be an important stimulus for the region in general and for Los Barrios in particular since the tax land responds to a repeated demand from the socioeconomic fabric of the Bay of Algeciras as a complement to the activity generated around the port of Algeciras.

There are three available plots and the City Council provides an important advantage for those interested in settling in one of them since the investments made in the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct will be considered of general interest, which will have the corresponding bonus.

The State delegate, Fran González, and the mayor of Los Barrios, Miguel Alconchel, recently held a meeting in which they coordinated the marketing actions and analyzed other details for the development of the fiscal enclave, since the Consortium is intensifying the procedures and work necessary so that it can become operational in the shortest possible time.
