The demolition of the old Pastoriza workshops will begin at the beginning of September

Zona Franca, which already has the license from the City Council, has awarded the work to the company Construcciones y Excavaciones Erri Berri SL

The action is part of the process of reorganization of the exterior industrial estate, together with the blue economy incubator financed by Feder Funds that is developed in the Base Zone on the old Ibérica Aga plot

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz is advancing in the development of the reorganization of the exterior industrial estate with a new step taken today: the awarding of the demolition work of the old Pastoriza workshops, an action that will be carried out by the company Construcciones y Excavaciones Erri Berri SL for an amount of 47,500 euros (VAT not included) and that will begin at the beginning of September.

The Consortium has expedited the procedures and has already obtained the construction license from the Cádiz City Council, having requested permission from the Consistory at the beginning of June in parallel with the bidding procedures for the work.

The work, which will last four months, will affect a significant part of the existing buildings on this plot, located at the confluence of Algeciras and Alcalde Sánchez Cossío streets, very close to the entrance to Cádiz via the Carranza bridge, and whose construction dates back to the early 70s of the 20th century.

The total area of the plot is 9,422 m², it has a constructed area of 9,935 m², although the work in this first phase of the work affects a part of the building, specifically 7,050 m².

The existing office building, which includes changing rooms and shops with a total of 972 m2 on the ground floor, has a transformation center owned by Eléctrica de Cádiz attached to it with access from Sánchez Cossio street and will not be affected in this phase of the work.

In this case, to the recovery of an important space in the industrial estate, is added the fact that it affects the image of an access area to the capital of Cadiz, which will be considerably improved.

In addition, once the demolition is completed, the plot will connect with the site of the old Ibérica Aga where the Zona Franca is developing Zona Base Cádiz, a space that will house the innovation and technological expansion center, which includes the blue economy incubator financed with Feder Funds.

The Pastoriza ships housed an industry linked to the naval sector, where boilermaking work was carried out for the manufacture of blocks and other metal elements that make up the ships. All types of materials, tools and consumables aimed at the same industrial sector were also sold.
