Today we wanted to put the focus of attention on our space, “Emprende, Campo de Gibralltar”, in a matter that is really of great interest to both professionals who are going to start their own business, as well as companies that need well-equipped and well-located facilities to carry out their activity.…. It is the office market in the region.

We found in the area a wide range of spaces equipped for this purpose that were launched a few years ago and that, to this day, continue. offering places at different prices and with a series of different services and capacities.

Possibly one of the most outstanding buildings is Nexus, a business center, next to the Chamber of Commerce, opened in 2015; Its construction required an investment of 6.5 million euros and it currently occupies 1,050 square meters. We have spoken with Jorge Ramos, Special Delegate of the State in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz. Ramos commented that “We want to strengthen the productive fabric of our province and that means helping entrepreneurs, to new entrepreneurs. We also have the La Menacha business center in Algeciras. With which in the city we provide a total of 80 spaces, offices, where entrepreneurs can start their activity. We provide them with flat rate internet, office furniture, electricity, cleaning, reception and secretarial services,a series of services, which includes parking, from about 250 euros per month”.

The person in charge of the Free Zone has been very satisfied with the occupancy that the Nexus building currently has since it is at just over 1/3. . “In Algeciras we talk about the fact that we are providing almost 7,000 square meters of offices” concludes Jorge Ramos.

We began to see the first buildings of these characteristics in the municipality of Los barrios, in the Palmones area, with the creation of Azabache, the Towers of Hercules or Artysur. Alonso Rojas He was the mayor of the municipality at that time. “The idea, the design that we did in those spaces, which were municipal, was for multinationals and small businessmen to coexist together, the bad thing is that the crisis arrived”. Rojas understands that the model is appropriate and that it is well received among young professionals and businessmen. “Where large industry is located, the main industrial estate of Andalusia, there must be those buildings that house professionals”.

But we also want to know the impression of those who are occupying one of those offices, in this case, in the Nexus building. Fernando González and Gabriel Merino They are partners in the graphic design and digital production company Kimau Studio. “We needed a space that would offer us a meeting room, exhibitions, a place to make presentations and comfortable offices in which to work, this outside the building would be economically unthinkable.”.

They acknowledge that they searched the center of the city “but it was unviable due to the expensive rent.”. They looked at office buildings but the prices were still high and they were far away. “We found Nexus and they offered us many possibilities, we have freedom when entering or leaving, we have parking, reception… That made us decide to set up the office here.”.

Kimau does digital work for large companies and they do it from Algeciras, as an anecdotal fact they told us, outside of the program, that they are looking for a programmer for the company and that the requests come to them from Madrid, the majority, because they think that the company is located in the capital. Fortunately, Kimau carries out its activity in Algeciras, in the Campo de Gibraltar.
