The Consortium will invest 37.5 million euros in the operation and will have 130,000 m2 more in the capital of Cadiz
In an event that was attended by the mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, the State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the director of Corporate and Legal Affairs of Altadis, Rocío Ingelmo Heras, signed today at the Consortium's Headquarters the sale and purchase of the land occupied by the tobacco company in the capital of Cádiz, annexed to the Fiscal Precinct and which include the existing facilities there.
Today's acquisition will make it possible for the Free Zone to expand its Tax Precinct in the capital of Cadiz by 130,000 m2, a space that, together with the current precinct, will become an important industrial focus. In fact, the expansion in the capital will be an important milestone in the entire expansion and expansion project, since the city as the embryo of the Free Trade Zone is the head and epicenter of this ambitious project.
Today's signing therefore opens the door to the installation of new and important companies, with whom Zona Franca has already held conversations that are very advanced, and which could begin their implementation this year.
The investment that the Free Zone will carry out in this operation will be 37.5 million euros, since the acquisition made effective today includes the existing facilities and buildings on the land occupied by Altadis.
Free Trade Zone will have to carry out redevelopment, security, lighting and sanitation works on the land and facilities occupied by the tobacco company so that the surface is adapted and meets the same conditions as the current Precinct since it will be attached to it.
This act represents the second step taken for the important expansion and expansion project that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is carrying out and that will make the Cádiz Consortium go from having 300,000 m2 to 1,300,000 m2. The first milestone was the acquisition from the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia last autumn of the El Fresno land, in Los Barrios, with an area of 140,000 m2, where four important industries have already confirmed their installation, with an initial investment of more than 29 million euros and an occupation of more than 63,000 m2.
