The special delegate of the Zona Franca in Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, visited on Wednesday the works of the administrative building being built by the Zona Franca on Avenida Pérez Arriete, and were able to verify that it is well advanced and that in all probability it will be inaugurated at the end of next February. They were accompanied by the municipal delegate for Employment Promotion, Diego de Salas, and technicians from the Vías y Construcciones company that executes the project.
Jorge Ramos indicated that this is “a good work for a large city, in a position to consolidate its expansion,” and noted that “providing the city with an eminently business building like this one is in line with the doctrine defended by both the City Council and the Free Trade Zone of boosting economic activity and generating wealth.”
Ramos assured that this building will be basic in the coming months for Algeciras, since a large part of the new economic activity that is generated will have its headquarters in that place.
Landaluce, for his part, stated that during the visit it was possible to verify the great change experienced in a few weeks in the building under construction, which has entered its final stretch, and in which the deadlines set for each phase have been met.
The mayor agreed with the Free Trade Zone delegate on how necessary this construction is, not because it is an emblematic building magnificently located next to the Chamber of Commerce, but because it will be a hub that generates business and employment. “ This building will create heritage and economic wealth, because it offers the necessary tools to entrepreneurs who want to launch initiatives and, with this, generate wealth and employment, which is our fundamental objective,” said the mayor.
As explained by the technicians during the visit, the building is in need of interior painting, lighting, and the installation of dividing glass screens and the ceiling. All the facilities are completed and have been planned in such a way that they can be compartmentalized according to the needs of the companies that settle in the property. Subsequently, the urbanization of the surroundings and auctions will be carried out.
The new construction of the Free Zone in Algeciras is a modern Business Center of 8,445.59 m2, which includes a parking lot with capacity for 80 vehicles and more than 5,000 square meters of offices for entrepreneurs.
The work on the building, which is built on a 4,000 m2 municipally owned plot, began in 2013 and was awarded to the company Vías y Construcciones S.A for a contract worth 4,796,574.98 euros, VAT not included.
