Carbures and the Cádiz Free Zone Consortium, represented by Carlos Guillén President of the company and Jorge Ramos Aznar, Special Delegate of the State in the Consortium, have signed the agreement that includes the project and design of Carbures Free Zone in the Interior Precinct, the most innovative plant made of 80% composite materials, and intended for the construction sector. The signing of the contract was attended by Teófila Martínez as President of the Consortium and Mayor of Cádiz.
The contract reflects the transfer of land for a period of 30 years on plot P-6 of approximately 6,000 m2, which will house the Carbures Free Zone building of approximately 4,700 m2. The project contemplates the use of very specific and innovative carbon fiber materials.
This unique building will serve to promote and publicize the use of composites in construction, and due to the innovative use of materials, it will lay the foundations for their use in building structures. The contribution of this material to civil works represents a great technological advance since it is 4.5 times lighter than steel and up to 3 times more resistant and with greater flexibility and resistance.
The plant, whose project will be carried out in the next 24 months, will assume a double functionality, on the one hand it will serve as an innovative example in which the benefits of composites in building will be shown and, in turn, it will be a production plant for composite materials oriented to construction.
The building will be divided into three parts: one oriented to production in long series, another for short series and a last one that will house I D i, the axis that supports Carbures' activity.
For the president of Carbures, Carlos Guillén, “Carbures Free Zone is a plant that will incorporate the highest technology in composites applied to the field of civil construction.” "Those who visit it will be direct witnesses of the production, of the interrelation between technological innovation and excellence in engineering through the design and manufacture of carbon fiber structures."
For Jorge Ramos Aznar, Special Delegate of the State in the Consortium, "this action, based on the contract that has been signed at this time, means implementing in the Tax Precinct a modern and innovative economic activity, pioneering in its kind and that serves for the development of the Cádiz economy."
At the signing ceremony, Ramos confirmed his full availability to undertake this project urgently and, to this end, he announced that "its financing, with his own funds and the European Union, is practically a reality", which is why he stated that he sees the tender and start of this project very close in time, which, without a doubt, will be emblematic for Zona Franca Cádiz.
Carbures, which designs and manufactures carbon fiber parts and structures for sectors such as aeronautics and automotive, has already introduced this technology in the civil engineering sector in elements such as beams and light bridges. Carbures Free Zone will become the company's fifth headquarters in Andalusia -Cádiz (4) and Seville (1), the sixth in Spain (with El Burgo de Osma) and the tenth in the world -Spain (6), USA (3) and China (1)-.
