The Special Delegate of the State in the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium, Jorge Ramos, visits Campo de Gibraltar today, Thursday, in a day during which progress will be made and follow-up will be made on the different actions that the Cádiz Institution has launched in the municipalities of Algeciras and Los Barrios.
The day will begin in the town of Barreña, where Ramos, accompanied by the general director of Zona Franca, José Manuel Fedriani and part of his management team, will visit the town's Town Hall with the aim of advancing in the development of the protocol of intentions signed on April 25 and turning it into an executive agreement for the comprehensive improvement of the Palmones Parque Empresarial Los Barrios.
The visit is expected to consist of two meetings: one at the Mayor's Office, in which the delegate will address the contents of the agreement with the mayor of the town, Jorge Romero, and with the first deputy mayor, David Gil. Subsequently, a specifically technical meeting will be held, in which staff from both institutions will analyze the different actions included in the reform of the business park, whose investment amounts to 3.7 million euros, an amount that will be financed 70% by a subsidy from the FEDER Funds within the Operational Program “Andalusia 2007-2013”.
The initiative promoted by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium in the municipality of Barreño includes 38 actions, which can be classified into three groups: strengthening the urban structure; the improvement of service infrastructures and the enhancement of the global image, actions that will redesign, improve and, in some cases, create new spaces, in order to correct obsolete infrastructure over the years and will modernize and energize some industrial estates that attract population from the entire Campo de Gibraltar region. It should be noted that the works would also result in a comprehensive improvement of the surroundings of the Business Park, owned by a company owned by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, a park through which the Consortium has been established in the municipality since 2003 and which sits on an area of 312,000 square meters.
VISIT WITH THE MAYOR OF THE WORKS OF THE NEW BUILDING IN ALGECIRAS
After the stay in Los Barrios, the Zona Franca delegate and his directors will travel to Algeciras where, together with the mayor of the town, José Ignacio Landaluce, they will visit the works of the new administrative building that the Consortium is building together with the city's Chamber of Commerce.
It should be noted that on April 18, the first stone was laid and, 5 days later, on the 23rd of the same month, the stakeout act was carried out, which marked the starting signal for the beginning of the works.
The contract for the action, which has a loan from the Ministry of Industry for Reindustrialization Aid, amounts to 4,796,574.98 euros, VAT not included, and has an execution period of one year. The Consortium put out to tender the works on November 20, with a balance of 27 offers presented.
The initiative that Zona Franca undertakes in Algeciras includes the construction of a modern Business Center of 8,445.59 square meters, which will include a parking lot with capacity for 80 vehicles and more than 5,000 square meters of offices for entrepreneurs. The project is built on a municipally owned plot of 4,000 square meters located on Avenida Juan Pérez Arriete, next to the Algeciras Chamber of Commerce.
This new building consolidates the presence of the Free Trade Zone in Algeciras, where it already has a Business Center in the Almanzor building, in the Menacha industrial estate, with an occupancy of more than 90%, which motivated the implementation of a project with similar characteristics in the heart of the city, next to the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce building, to thus meet the needs of the business fabric of Algeciras and the Region.
Zona Franca also has a branch of the company Servicios Documentales de Andalucía in Algeciras, also in the Menacha industrial estate, dedicated to the custody of files and document management.
