Zona Franca and Jerez City Council sign a protocol for the comprehensive improvement of the El Portal industrial estate

The Special Delegate of the State in the Cádiz Free Zone Consortium, Jorge Ramos, and the Mayor of Jerez, María José García Pelayo, signed this morning a protocol of intentions for the comprehensive improvement of urban equipment and services in the El Portal industrial estate.
The El Portal Industrial Park constitutes the fundamental focus of the industrial implementation of Jerez de la Frontera since its creation in the mid-60s. Located to the south of the city, it has an area of 172 hectares and a perimeter of 6,500 m, with 600 companies carrying out their activity.
The actions proposed in the protocol fall into three groups:

  • Improvement in accessibility, connections, and interior roads on Alcalde Cantos Ropero Avenue, Marruevos Street and South Africa Street.
  • Improvement of service infrastructure in Alcalde Cantos Ropero, Marruevos street and South Africa street.
  • Comprehensive improvement of equipment in the polygon. The comprehensive improvement of those public facilities is proposed, especially nest warehouses and the Andana Municipal Business Center, which aim to integrate into the free market under conditions of competitive equality in terms of business management.

This project confirms Zona Franca's commitment to the city of Jerez, as it adds to the initiative already underway to rehabilitate the old convent of San Agustín as a Business Center.
