ZF presents the Rehabilitation Project of the Convent of San Agustín de Jerez at the Culture Delegation of the Board

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has presented today to the Territorial Delegation in Cádiz of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Andalusia the Basic Rehabilitation Project of the Old Convent of San Agustín de Jerez, in order to obtain the corresponding authorization and thus begin the necessary archaeological work to expedite the procedures and begin the execution of the work in the shortest possible time.
A few weeks ago, the Cádiz institution signed the contract for the archaeological study in the old Convent of San Agustín de Jerez, a step that is of great importance for the development of the rehabilitation work that will be carried out by the Consortium in collaboration with the City Council and that will convert the old building into a modern Business and Business Services Center, at the same time that it will redevelop the area around Puerto Street. The amount of this contract for archaeological studies is 17,992 euros (VAT not included).
In order to speed up the procedures as much as possible, the Cádiz Consortium has made this action coincide with the recent tender for the execution project for the rehabilitation of this old building as a business and business services center. This will allow everything to be ready shortly to put the work out to tender.
This archaeological study is essential according to the regulations since the area of action is located on a plot located outside the walls of the Islamic medina of Jerez, occupying the plot located immediately after the Alcázar and is assigned to those urban or rustic plots where the existence of emerging and/or buried archaeological elements is assumed, whose evaluation after the archaeological activity may allow their possible integration or enhancement.
Although the old building dates back to the 17th century and the project contemplates the recovery of the main cloister of the property and the annex building, a prior study of the plot is necessary due to the location of the plot. The action that Zona Franca will carry out also includes the redevelopment of Puerto Street, adjacent to the future business center, within the framework of the exterior development of the building.
