Zona Franca requests the San Fernando City Council for a license to demolish the Tiro Janer buildings

The Cádiz Institution intends to have the buildings demolished by the emergency procedure to avoid future incidents

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium regrets the seriousness of the events that occurred in the early hours of March 21 at the Janer Shooting Range in San Fernando, which resulted in the death of one person and another seriously injured. In order to ensure that events such as the one that unfortunately occurred did not occur, the Free Trade Zone acted with the utmost diligence since it received the keys to the doors of the industrial estate on March 19 and in less than 24 hours there were Consortium personnel reviewing the area and proceeding to seal the doors, even resorting to welding.
Notwithstanding the above, and once the event was known, the Zona Franca appeared on the morning of the 21st at the San Fernando Police Station to prove the facts mentioned above, along with an extensive photographic report that was carried out on the same day the 20th to avoid, as far as possible, the violation of private property, a fact that was subsequently the subject of a complaint.
Given the seriousness of the events and to avoid a repetition of events such as the one that occurred, the Consortium yesterday requested authorization from the San Fernando City Council to proceed with the demolition of the existing facilities by emergency means, and that this demolition does not affect the archaeological excavation work that the Free Zone must carry out in the short term.
It is the intention of Zona Franca, to receive the corresponding authorization or order in this regard from the island City Council, to proceed with the immediate demolition of the buildings, for which the appropriate requests for financial offers for this are being sent to specialized companies. Meanwhile, since last Thursday the 21st, Zona Franca has proceeded to hire private security to prevent the repetition of the events that occurred.
