The Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium is already in the process of comprehensively cleaning the site of the former Construcciones Aeronáuticas (CASA) and eliminating the four existing shacks that housed 10 people who have left this illegal settlement on their own initiative this morning.
The Free Trade Zone has arranged the technical personnel and material means for cleaning the plot and transferring existing debris and belongings to the authorized landfill. The Consortium technicians estimate that these works will last about ten days and that from then on they will proceed to the regeneration of the wall and perimeter fence, which was broken and forced by these illegal occupants.
In any case, the delegate of the Free Zone, Jorge Ramos, who visited the plot today to supervise the progress of the cleaning, has once again reiterated the anachronism that represents the fact that the Free Zone is mortgaged with a plot of land that has cost over 11 million euros, which was going to be used for the construction of a hospital, about which apparently no one wants to know anything from the appropriate party. The plot is classified as sanitary use and the Free Trade Zone remains obliged to its permanent maintenance. –In this case, the cleaning cost will be around 14,000 euros, without any capacity to either develop the hospital project or transform this floor that economically and, in Ramos' words, "weighs like a concrete slab."
For all these reasons, the Free Zone delegate, who has praised the willingness of the Cádiz Institution to carry out this project in recent years, asks for the umpteenth time for sanity and understanding in the face of this situation that can hardly continue to be supported by the Free Zone.
