Zona Franca formalizes with VDR the sale of the plot next to Incubazul for a hotel

The operation occurs when the development of the plot has been completed and will allow the construction of the equipment that Travelodge will operate.

The new hotel will generate a significant number of jobs and will complement the hotel offering of Cádiz in an area of the city that is beginning to generate dynamism thanks to the urban planning actions of the institution.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, and the representative of the VDR company, Fernando Vidaurre, have signed this afternoon the deed of sale of the plot located in UE-ZF-08-A, close to the building of recycled maritime containers that houses Zona Base-Incubazul and next to the property of the former Ibérica Aga in the outer polygon of the Free Zone of Cádiz, where a hotel will be built, which in turn location could very effectively cover the needs of professional stays in the city.

Once the urbanization work on the plot unit is completed, with an area of 1,207 m2 and a buildable area of 4,077 m2 above ground and 1,207 m2 below ground, the VDR firm will develop a hotel establishment, which includes the Ibérica Aga building, and which will also complement and provide an added service to the ecosystem that has its nerve center in the iconic Zona Base building.

The hotel will be operated by Travelodge, a British hotel chain that has more than 600 hotels and 40 years of experience, which has made it one of the leading companies in the hotel sector with the best quality-price ratio. Travelodge has 13 hotels in Spain distributed in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and Malaga.

The new facility, which will be built next to the old Ibérica Aga building, will generate a significant number of jobs and will complement the limited supply of hotel establishments in this part of the city and could respond to the need arising from professional trips. In fact, the offer presented by VDR to qualify for the contest proposed in its report “Cádiz as a leisure and business destination.”

The purchase and sale operation, which has materialized for a total amount of 1,973,268 euros, is included in the strategy carried out by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone to revitalize and reorganize the execution units of the Cádiz exterior industrial estate, an industrial area that was very deteriorated. If the emblematic Zona Base-Incubazul building is already providing a real boost for this area of the city since its inauguration, the fact of having a hotel very close by will create an ideal breeding ground to promote economic and commercial activity and create synergies that promote greater economic development for the city and nearby areas.

In this sense, the delegate of the Free Zone, Fran González, has stressed that "today's purchase and sale agreement once again ratifies the good work of the Consortium's commercial team in the permanent search for new initiatives and projects that can be installed in our spaces and that revitalize the socioeconomic fabric of Cádiz." González added that since we began the development of that execution unit we realized that when spaces are revitalized they become attractive for investment and this operation demonstrates this."
