Fran González, accompanied by the director of Business Promotion and Foreign Trade, has visited the Incube building, which houses ICT companies, as well as Astilleros Canarios
The Cádiz representatives have held meetings with Canarian companies, with whom they already started contact at the high-tech incubator day held in October in Las Palmas
The delegate of the Free Zone of Gran Canaria, Gabriel Corujo, has accompanied the Cadiz officials during their stay on the island within the framework of the alliance and coordination between the seven Spanish free zones
Fran González explains that these types of visits complement the work being carried out in Cádiz around industry 4.0, innovation and the circular economy since “we know other models that can serve as a reference to enrich the ecosystem we are building.”
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, accompanied by the director of Business Promotion and Foreign Trade of the Consortium, Marta Domínguez, has seen different spaces of innovation and technology that are being developed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, especially the new Incube building, a center promoted by the Society for Economic Promotion of Gran Canaria (SPEGC), the entity through which the work is channeled to create new opportunities for economic development on the Island.
The Cádiz representatives accompanied by the managing director of the SPEGC, Cosme García, have visited the facilities of this innovative space, preferably intended for companies with ICT projects applied to tourism and leisure, the building that houses it being a construction integrated with its environment and made with ventilation and natural lighting systems to minimize the energy contribution, integrating all the sustainability parameters, in line with the criteria that have been used for the development of the Base Zone-Incubazul building.
Fran González has insisted on the importance of knowing innovative spaces with diverse characteristics that "can serve as a reference to complement our industry 4.0, innovative and circular economy model and have data and models that can enrich our work in the ecosystem that we are building."
During the visit to Gran Canaria, the delegate of the Cádiz Free Zone and the commercial director have also held meetings with companies with which they already started contact during the high-tech incubator day that was held last October in Las Palmas and which, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and the Self-Employed of the Government of the Canary Islands in collaboration with the Incyde Foundation, brought together 12 incubators from all over Spain.
During that meeting, the incubator of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone and the Cádiz tax precinct aroused great interest among the entities and companies attending, some of which were interested in settling on the peninsula and learning more about both the Blue Economy projects and the Consortium facilities. For this reason, Fran González has taken advantage of his presence in Las Palmas to maintain different institutional and business contacts.
Furthermore, the Cádiz-based manager has seen the facilities of Astilleros Canarios (Astican), a privately owned naval repair yard with highly experienced personnel and whose main activity is the repair, maintenance and conversion of all types of vessels, structures and artifacts for marine renewable energies and offshore units and with innovation as one of the fundamental keys to its strategy.
Fran González has stressed the importance of carrying out this type of actions and commercial missions that "not only give us reference models but also offer great visibility to our facilities and our innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote our tax precincts in very strategic areas."
The alliance between the seven Spanish free zones, within the framework of which the visit of the representatives of the Cádiz Free Zone to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has been developed, includes different joint work and coordination actions that lead to sharing the synergies of each of the free zones and their areas of influence, such as facilitating contacts with entities and companies, sharing models and references and giving visibility abroad.
