Zona Franca establishes itself as a Blue Economy hub with two new cutting-edge buildings in Cádiz

The Cádiz Consortium has presented the two constructions that form the ZF Blue Core-Vivero 4.0, which will complement the role of the Incubazul incubator in the configuration of its blue ecosystem

Both will be built with parameters of sustainability and use of free and common spaces, according to the architects Jaime Torres Cano, author of the first project, and Alejandro Infantes and Javier Muñoz, of the second.

The ZF Blue Core project has a global investment of 10.3 million euros, co-financed by Feder, of which 6 million correspond to the bidding budget for the properties

One of the nurseries will be located next to the Incubazul Base Zone building in the outer polygon and the other next to Europa in the tax area.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone is in the midst of developing two state-of-the-art buildings with which it will take another step and strengthen the Blue Economy hub that it is establishing in the province of Cádiz and throughout the southern part of the country. This has been confirmed by the State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, who has presented the two buildings that make up the ZF Blue Core, a business incubator 4.0, the new project being developed by the Cádiz Consortium and which complements Incubazul, the Blue Economy incubator financed by European Funds. The head of the Consortium has been accompanied by the architects behind both projects in the presentation that took place this morning in the newly opened Incubazul Base Zone recycled maritime container building.

The 4.0 ZF Blue Core incubator, whose global investment is 10.3 million euros, 85% co-financed by European Funds, will be distributed in two locations around the tax precinct of the city of Cádiz and the Blue Economy centers already formed, one next to the aforementioned Incubazul building in the outer polygon of the Free Zone and the other in front of the Europa building of the tax precinct. The buildings, which have a total useful area of nearly 9,000 square meters, will have a modern construction and design that allows the modulation of the spaces depending on the needs expressed by the companies.

Jaime Torres from Cádiz, from the Uncuarto Arquitectura studio, is the author of the business incubator project that will be located next to the Incubazul Base Zone building, in the outer polygon. The architect has explained that the construction, which will have a useful area of 4,015.87 m2 and a tender budget of 3.4 million euros, will be made up of two floors for offices and warehouses, an attic for celebrations and events and a basement dedicated to parking. The entire complex will have a large terrace for common use and to promote coexistence and networking.

The building will be equipped with all the sustainability parameters of the ZF Blue Core, in which the Blue Economy is the protagonist and the spaces are prepared for versatile use and ideal for the development of innovation and research initiatives, according to the author of the project. The attic floor is complemented by three large pergolas that generate covered outdoor areas designed to promote the exchange of synergies and coexistence between companies.

The young architects of the Estudio Veintidós firm, Manuel Infantes and Javier Muñoz Godino, have been the authors of the drafting of the project for the building that will be located inside the fiscal precinct, specifically on a plot in front of the Europa building, where the Incubazul headquarters was until now and a total useful area of 4,268.12 m2 is planned.

One of them, Javier Muñoz Godino, explained the construction details of the building, which has a tender budget of 2.6 million euros, will have two floors and will have photovoltaic solar panels for self-consumption. The architects have explained that the building will be made up of 13 warehouses of different sizes connected by an upper gallery. The authors call one of them Nave Zero, which contains the access and reception area and also contains a rest area and communication core that connects it with an upper gallery.

The elevated gallery, which is accessed both through the Zero warehouse and any of the others, is a space shared by companies and meetings and events can be held there. All work and networking spaces are configured around a bioclimatic patio that allows for redistributing flows, optimizing movements and efficiently controlling humidity and temperature.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone has been very excited about these two new buildings that "together with our brand new container building where we are today, they will place Cádiz at the forefront of sustainability and we will establish ourselves as a benchmark in the Blue Economy."

Fran González explained that "with both projects we will be able to make nearly 9,000 square meters of useful surface available to the blue economy ecosystem for innovation and business promotion. These are buildings with great visual impact due to their modernity and rupture, along the lines of the incubator, which also incorporate technical innovations that result not only in energy efficiency but also think about the circular economy and sustainability in its construction and materials,” he said.

The person in charge of the Free Zone added that "this new support from Europe in ZF Blue Core, also co-financed by European Funds, also confirms the work that the Free Zone of Cádiz is doing as a promoter of its environment and how its role in the development and execution of previous projects carried out with Feder financing has been carried out successfully."

It must be remembered that the ZF Blue Core project aims to promote and consolidate innovative companies linked to the Blue Economy, whether or not they have gone through the acceleration program of the Free Zone incubator, Incubazul, although its vocation is to serve as a bridge for those initiatives that receive personalized advice in the incubator and need a new framework before becoming a real part of the province's blue economy ecosystem. It is a 4.0 incubator where companies can finish consolidating and advance throughout the entire digital framework of the project thanks to a technological laboratory and specialized mentoring.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has created a powerful Blue Economy ecosystem around the Incubazul incubator and its acceleration program, but it is also betting on a new industry 4.0 model, more innovative, sustainable and committed to the environment. In this context, its marketing actions are aimed at attracting innovative companies linked to the blue sector within the framework of sustainability. In fact, currently of the 113 companies that operate in the tax area of the city of Cádiz, 80 are linked to the Blue Economy and 24 of them are directly related to innovative and technological projects.

In this entire ecosystem, the ZF Blue Core project acquires special relevance, which will not only provide continuity, strengthen and accommodate those companies that emerge from the Incubazul acceleration program but will also make quality services and equipment available to any innovative and technological company linked to the Blue Economy and will contribute to the development of companies and job creation. With this project, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone will offer companies with these characteristics spaces to carry out their work, with the support and ideal conditions so that they can also fully develop their digital and innovative potential.

The ZF Blue Core-Business Incubator 4.0 project is 85% financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain FEDER 2021-2027 through the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce within the framework of Priority: P1A. of the High Technology Nurseries 4.0 Incubators Program, aimed at promoting a digital and intelligent Transition and, within it, in Specific Objective 1.3 "Strengthening the sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs and the creation of jobs in them, also through productive investments."
