The highly innovative incubator linked to the blue economy launched through the Free Zone of Cádiz, Incubazul, is again congratulations. One of the startups of its ecosystem, Marisma Biomed, has been made with the award to the ‘New company’ of the 2025 Proa Awards granted by the marine marine cluster of Andalusia (CMMA) in its sixth edition in an act held last night in Malaga.
The event was attended by the Free Zone of Cádiz, when the State delegate, Fran González, and the coordinator of Incubazul, Jose Manuel Fedriani, who accompanied the entire maritime-marine sector of Andalusia: the world of knowledge and university, companies, researchers, public institutions, as well as professional associations and defense entities of the rural and marine environment and related to sustainability.
The Marisma Biomed company participates in the Incubazul acceleration program and its work focuses on the creation of food products from different natural sources of the Mareal Marism, such as Salicornia. For their activity, marshes have transformed in R&D spaces and have discovered species with unique benefits, even in some cases prevent diseases and improve the well -being of people, especially around cardiovascular health.
The Biomed Marisma team, commanded by Joan Montaner, is a multidisciplinary team formed by biologists, chemicals, nutritionists, doctors, environmentalists and graphic designers that have joined with the same goal: to bring to the population the benefits that are hidden in the marsh.
For his part, the state delegate, Fran González, participated in the act with the delivery of the ‘Sustainable Blue Tourism’ to the Salinas del Alemán-Biomaris, located in the Natural Marismas Place of Isla Cristina. He delivered it together with Adrián Wesndorp, vice president of the Marine Marine Cluster of Andalusia.
The head of the Cadiz institution highlighted the importance of this type of recognition, "that encourage us to continue working on the same line and serve as support for initiatives and projects linked to the blue economy."

If this talent also contributes to the science and health of all, taking advantage of what nature gives us in a respectful way, as is the case of Marisma Biomed, we are much more. The delegate of the Consortium also wanted to congratulate, in addition to all the winners, to Ctaqua who received the distinction ‘Azui knowledge’ together with Jose Carlos García, Professor of Marine Biology at the University of Seville. Fran González emphasized the joint work between Zona Franca and Ctaqua that last April signed a protocol for the development of new innovative initiatives in the impulse of the blue economy.
It must be remembered that Incubazul received the 2023 Proa Award, which was deserving for his great work as an institution in the field of the blue economy, his career and contribution to the blue entrepreneurship in Andalusia. The PROA awards recognize the contribution of institutions, companies, entities and people in the promotion, development, growth and knowledge of the blue economy in Andalusia, as well as the humanitarian, research, technological, cultural, innovative and sustainable work in the maritime-marine field of our community.
With these awards, the CMMA wants to make visible the best entrepreneur public companies or institutions that promote, within the framework of the Blue Economy, economic and social development, to companies or institutions that stand out in sustainable management and in respect to the maritime-marine environment, to the entity or personality that has fostered the sustainable blue economy at the international level, to whom whose trajectory is highlighted in the security and defense ecosystem, to whom it contributes to an intelligent, sustainable and integrative maritime tourism and The entity that promotes agglutinating the productive, social and regenerative fabric to achieve collaborative growth based on the improvement of resources and infrastructure in the region.
