Zona Franca awards Construcciones Manzano the completion of the work on the Zona Base building

The Executive Committee of the Institution has given the green light today to the offer presented to complete this equipment for an amount of 900,294.32 euros (VAT not included) and an execution period of 4 months

The Consortium put out to tender the works at the end of July due to the abandonment of the previous winning company, Díaz Cubero, which left the work on hold in its final stretch.

The Executive Committee of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has approved this morning the award to the company 'Construcciones Manzano' of the work to complete the building made up of recycled maritime containers, located in the UE ZF-08-A execution unit, and which will host the Base Zone project with the Blue Economy technological incubator, Incubazul, for an amount of 900,294.32 euros (VAT not included) and an execution period of 4 months.

The Consortium is thus completing the tender opened on July 30 to be able to resume the works as quickly as possible, after they were paralyzed in the final stretch, due to the abandonment of the previous winner, Díaz Cubero, due to her committed financial situation.

In addition, it is expected that in the coming weeks the completion of the works on the sanitation project of the aforementioned execution unit will also be awarded, which are 70% complete.

The maritime container building, which is approximately 85% complete, was designed by the Carquero Arquitectura studio as a reference center for the circular economy, for a more sustainable industrial model committed to the environment. It has a total constructed area of 1,951.33 m2 y 1.415,73 m2 of terraces and open spaces distributed over three floors in height, in addition to the ground floor.

The completion of this iconic building will complete the architectural aspect of Incubazul as a reference center for the Blue Economy and highly innovative entrepreneurship in the outer industrial area of Cádiz, adding it to its already outstanding role as a business acceleration project, which has been developing since two and a half years ago and through which Incubazul has already positioned itself as a hub for the marine sector at a national and international level, with more than 100 impacted companies in which entrepreneurship, talent, self-employment and innovative ideas are promoted, projecting them so that they are viable and consolidated as businesses.

It must be remembered that the investment already made by the Free Zone in this building has amounted to more than 3 million euros, which has had 80% European co-financing through the Foundation within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain FEDER 2014-2020 , completed on December 31 and which reached a completion rate of 100.17%, so the stoppage of work has not affected the management of the Consortium as a channeling and executing agency for European funds.
