The Free Zone of Cádiz closes its visit to Colombia by visiting the Free Zone of Santa Marta

Fran González's intervention offered details about startups that use algae for the development of sustainable products, such as food packaging, cosmetics, etc.

           The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, participated on Thursday in the second day of Innovazul Caribe 2024, at the University of Magdalena, where he presented the main lines of the acceleration program of the Blue Economy incubator Incubazul and the solutions that this project proposes to help alleviate different environmental problems and at the same time obtain benefits for economic development and the creation of business activity.

                        During the first panel of the day, in which participants described different international experiences, Fran González presented the work developed by several of the incubated startups, which use algae as raw material for the manufacture of sustainable products, such as food packaging or cosmetics. , among others. In this way, firms such as Futuralga, Algaeca and Omívorus, to name just a few of them, take advantage of the algae present on the beaches and which have a very worrying environmental and socioeconomic impact in our province, for the manufacture of merchandise to market.

                        The intervention of the person in charge of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone aroused enormous interest among those attending since sargassum, a type of seaweed, is invading the Caribbean Sea in alarming quantities, which generates a significant environmental and economic impact for the region and causes deep concern among the population.

                        Fran González described the enormous possibilities offered by the Blue Economy and how it has been proven that projects like Incubazul work, as demonstrated by the fact that a third of the startups are already billing and another third have a minimum viable product and added that “we We are firm defenders of the future and development possibilities of the Blue Economy. The potential is immense and from the Cádiz Free Trade Zone we are working to make the province a hub of the Blue Economy, something that we are already achieving.”

                        The delegate of the Free Zone shared the first panel of the day with the president of the Maritime Marine Cluster of Andalusia, Javier Noriega, and the manager of Surcontrol, Jesús Rodríguez Vargas, who also shared their experiences, progress and achievements in promoting the Economy Azul and how to energize strategic alliances for their consolidation.

                        Incubazul and the hundred startups participating in the acceleration program have played a leading role in the final stretch of Innovazul Caribe 2024 due to the interest aroused in attendees during the day this Thursday, where a project that could be used as a reference and model.

                        The delegation of the Free Zone of Cádiz will take advantage of their stay in the municipality to visit this Friday the Free Zone of Santa Marta, a very attractive industrial and commercial park that houses 32 wineries, commercial premises and even a hotel and which will serve to get to know first-hand hand the activity of a free zone closely linked to tourist activity.
