The delegate of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, together with the vice-rector of Entrepreneurship, Carmen Camelo, have visited the headquarters of the organization UN Women Colombia during the course of their trip to the country on the occasion of the participation of the Cádiz Consortium in Innovazul Caribe 2024 and held a meeting with the representative of the entity, Bibiana Aido, who has been heading the United Nations office for equality policies for three years.
Also present at the meeting were, in addition to the Consortium directors accompanying Fran González, the deputy representative of UN Women Colombia, Mª Inés Salamanca, and the national Program officer, Diana Espinosa, among other officials of the organization.
The Cadiz delegation has been able to learn about the work carried out by the entity in the Latin American country, work that focuses on the empowerment of women and gender equality, while trying to provide the means to improve the living conditions of women. in the country and offer them tools to respond to the needs they face in their daily lives. Colombia is one of the offices with the most programs and direct impact on the lives of women.
During the meeting, those responsible for both entities have exchanged experiences and have offered data on the projects they are developing in order to analyze the possibility of seeking lines of collaboration and joint work. Thus, both the employability initiatives that UN Women has for empowerment and the work of mentoring and advising companies from Incubazul, or the University of Cádiz, represent a good starting point for joint collaboration, also supported by the preservation objectives. of nature and sustainable development of the UN.
