The Free Zone of Cádiz exchanges experiences and projects with the free zones of Bogotá

The State delegate in the Cádiz Free Zone, Fran González, accompanied by part of his management team, including the director of Business Promotion and Foreign Trade, Marta Domínguez, has taken advantage of his presence in Colombia on the occasion of his participation in Innovazul Caribe 2024 to be able to learn first-hand about the activity, initiatives and projects of the Bogotá Free Trade Zone, as well as IntexZona, also in the metropolitan area of ​​the Colombian capital.

The representation of the Cádiz Consortium began the day by holding a meeting with the executive management of the Association of Free Trade Zones of the Americas (AZFA), of which it is a part, and in which they were able to address some elements of the next assembly of the international organization where the Cádiz Free Trade Zone will be able to tell the experience in the blue economy and which will be held in November.

Next, the Cádiz delegation was able to see first-hand the facilities of the Bogotá Free Trade Zone, with whose general manager, Diego Vargas, they held a work meeting in which they addressed the different lines of work and innovation so that could learn from their respective experiences.

The Bogotá Free Zone is the only free zone in the urban area of ​​the Colombian capital and is located just six kilometers from the El Dorado international airport, which allows for a short and safe logistics corridor to the country's main air cargo terminal. . The Cádiz representation has visited this large business park of 64 hectares with tax, customs and foreign trade incentives, where industrial, goods and services activities are carried out where almost 400 companies operate that generate nearly 30,000 jobs. During this visit, they were able to meet companies housed in the Bogotá Free Trade Zone regarding clothing, a data center, as well as an interesting educational and training action: Unifranca.

For his part, the delegate has presented the strengths of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, its productive spaces, its 600,000 m2 of tax premises in the province and its new industry 4.0 model with the Blue Economy incubator as the central axis.

Another important focus of development in the region is the Intexzona Free Zone, whose facilities have also hosted a meeting in which the delegate of the Cádiz Free Zone has presented the strengths of the tax area and the new model that is being implemented there with the Blue Economy and innovation as fundamental axes of the strategy.

The Cádiz representation has been able to see the facilities of this free zone, located in the metropolitan area of ​​Bogotá and the largest in Cundinamarca and with a total area of ​​82 hectares, which promotes, operates and manages Free Zones, its own or third parties, promoting foreign trade and business development in Colombia and the region.

Fran González is carrying out a complete agenda in the days prior to the celebration of Caribbean Innovation 2024, which will be held from September 11 to 14 in the Colombian town of Santa Marta, taking the opportunity to make contacts with other free zones to analyze possible avenues. of collaboration.

The delegate of the Free Trade Zone highlighted that “it is very interesting to see in situ the work that is being carried out in these Latin American free zones, which are important centers of development in their areas and references in logistics and international trade operations. For us it is very valuable to be able to bring and present our strengths, all our potential, since mainly due to our location and experience we have always been a natural entry and exit door to Latin America.”
