All service contracts have recently been renewed, thus generating important activity around the supply companies.
For the first time in 10 years, a plan is being carried out to fine-tune and improve equipment and infrastructure, especially in the Cádiz tax area, which is in line with the Comprehensive Modernization Plan that the Consortium has been undertaking since 2021 in a phased manner
The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz dedicates 2.5 million euros annually to the Maintenance and Conservation of its facilities, which includes not only contracts for improvement or adaptation works but also service contracts so that everything works correctly. In fact, these service contracts have entailed a disbursement of 1,317,000 euros while the amount dedicated to minor works has been 1,283,000 euros.
In addition to adaptation and improvement works, this type of contracting includes, for example, the maintenance of fire-fighting installations, removal of municipal solid waste, gardening, maintenance of electrical installations, contracting of electrical supply of facilities, among others, that generate an important activity around service companies and suppliers, even more so taking into account that all service contracts have recently been renewed.
In parallel with the general maintenance, works are being undertaken to improve the facilities, the Comprehensive Improvement Plan of the Tax Precinct, which since 2021 has been updating the equipment and infrastructure, providing the precinct with benefits and services in accordance with sustainability and quality criteria. business.
Among the improvements we can mention the bike lane, an infrastructure highly demanded by the users of the premises, the electric station, different actions to improve the area of the old Altadis such as the security fence, the new entrance access to the area, dismantling of obsolete equipment, adaptation of the part close to the cross building (expansion of security facilities, commissioning of the electrical installation, etc.).
With the aim of offering a better service to the users of the fiscal area, the signage has also been renewed, the hydraulic and electrical infrastructures, the video surveillance system have been improved, in addition to the resurfacing of the main arteries of entrance and exit to the premises, which required renovation after years of exposure to heavy traffic.
Also, within the Improvement Plan, the cleaning of difficult-to-access areas and the painting of numerous equipment and signs have been carried out, as well as the optimization of some spaces that have allowed the generation of new parking spaces and the repair of some covers such as that of Documentary Services, which has been waterproofed.
One of the latest actions has been the conditioning and improvement of the Civil Guard control booths in the Tax Precinct. Thus, last summer the works on the checkpoint at the main entrance on Algeciras Street were completed and in the coming weeks work on the control checkpoint at the access to the Elcano marina is scheduled to begin, which has extended its opening hours for the afternoon.
The work in both sentry boxes consists of the installation of visors for protection against wind, rain and sun, in addition to the replacement of windows, the creation of access to the toilet from the inside and the complete adaptation of this space with painting.
With all these improvement, maintenance and conservation actions, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone continues to take firm steps towards the implementation of a self-sufficient industrial and logistics zone committed to the future of the city. The objective is to consolidate quality infrastructures that increase the competitiveness of the operators and the business fabric and multiply the potential of the venue as a first-level logistics space, in addition to creating growing activity around the companies that supply and work for the Consortium. in general maintenance tasks.
