The Executive Committee of the Free Zone of Cádiz has given the green light this week to the rehabilitation works of the old Cervera Irros ship, located in the corner between Algeciras Street and Tarifa Street of the Exterior Polygon and which is currently the basis of operations of the company that performs the cleaning of the city, value.
The works have been awarded to the company Fosan Management y Construcción S.L. for an amount of 548,084 euros (VAT not included) and include improving and adapting in a general way facilities that are operational but presenting a series of deficiencies motivated by the passing of the years that must be remedied to meet all the requirements of the activity.
The works, which will have an execution period of 4 months, are carried out on a set of three industrial ships attached to an annex body of offices and a front patio of maneuvers that in total total an area of 6,345 m2.
The main motivation of these works is basically the replacement of fiber cement covers and their replacement by others of pre -lacquered steel sheet and exterior finish resistant to the marine environment.
The translucent will also be replaced and replaced, having detached many of them in the different storms that have occurred in recent times. The deteriorated facade bibs will also be replaced or some also detached by sheets of similar characteristics to that of the roofs.
Another of the planned actions will be the realization of new concrete suns, both inside and in the front courtyard of the ships, since they are very damaged by continuous access of heavy vehicles of garbage collection.
Taking advantage of these works, new sanitation networks will also be carried out inside the ships with sinks and fat separating arches, as well as a new collector that connects these networks with the municipal network.
In addition, other minor actions will be carried out, such as the selective demolition and auction of the mediator with the old lighthouse workshops where leaks are produced inside.
It is an action on facilities that are known in the city for having housed years ago to beer irons and that during the 70s and 80s supplied plates and laminated steel profiles for the naval industry, being the main supplier of the auxiliary industries that existed in the environment (lighthouse workshops, pastorize workshops or Carpio workshops).
The important investment made by the free zone in this action is part of the line of work already started in the fiscal enclosure with the infrastructure modernization plan, which is already in its final phase and in which improvements have been carried out worth more than 1.8 million euros in new accesses, hydraulic and electrical infrastructures, signage, among others, with the main objective of offering a better service to operators and customers favor the arrival of new investments.
Likewise, the rehabilitation of the facilities from which it currently values directly affects an activity developed from the exterior polygon of the city, whose transformation is one of the main bets of the free zone that has large -level performances underway for the city such as the development of a base zone, in the old Iberian AGA, or the development of the Navalips project, with more than 800 homes, 10,000 m2 of green areas and 28,000 m2 of commercial areas.
