It must be remembered that the Free Trade Zone is the owner of the land but is not responsible for a spill deposited in an unauthorized manner to which it has responded as quickly as possible, within the deadlines established by the Public Sector Contracting Law.

The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has awarded the company FCC Ámbito SAU the work of removing and cleaning the spill deposited in an unauthorized manner on the plot corresponding to Sector 8 located in the Cortijo Real industrial estate, Los Pastores (Algeciras), after putting them out to tender urgent processing last May.
Once the contract is signed, scheduled for June 30, the winning company will begin the collection work at the beginning of next July, the month during which the work will take place since they have an execution period of 30 days.
The contract has an award amount of 285,674 euros (VAT not included) to undertake, specifically, a comprehensive management service - removal, loading, transport, storage and treatment - of all waste deposited in the area in a manner not authorized by third parties, as well as the cleaning and tidying of the entire affected area
The document included the assessment of the greatest possible use of textile waste, always complying with the current applicable regulations, Law 7/2022 of April 8 on Waste and Contaminating Soils for a Circular Economy and in line with the commitment of the Free Trade Zone to commit to a more sustainable management model committed to the environment. Thus, during the work, FCC Ámbito will allocate the greatest amount of waste to recycling, regeneration or energy recovery.
Likewise, with the aim of controlling unauthorized access to the plot and trying to prevent improper waste from being deposited again, the Free Trade Zone has also completed the installation of two enclosures on the plot with double folding metal doors measuring 5 meters in total. and has put into operation a 24-hour security service with private security since the beginning of the month until work begins.
It must be remembered that the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz activated from the first moment all the necessary procedures to undertake the removal of the spill as quickly as possible, due to its status as owner of the land – and injured –, always complying with the deadlines established by the Law. of Public Sector Contracting and working in parallel and in coordination with the State Security Forces and Bodies that investigate the authorship of the events.
