The State delegate in the Cádiz Free Trade Zone today learned about the transformation project of the Port Olimpic of Barcelona within the framework of the presence and participation of the Cádiz Consortium in the International Logistics Exhibition (SIL), which is taking place from the 7th to June 9.

Fran González began his visit to this marina in transformation with a meeting with the director of the Port Olimpic, Olga Cerezo, and the deputy director of Customer, Strategy and Transformation of the Barcelona Community Services (BSM), an entity dependent on the Barcelona City Council that is in charge of its management.

During the meeting, the top officials of the project showed the delegate of the Cadiz Consortium the details of the initiative, closely linked to the Blue Economy sector, and with whom they analyzed the possible connections with the Blue Economy incubator of the Cadiz Free Zone. , Incubazul.

The visit culminated with an on-site tour of the works, directed by the director of Technical Services of the BSM, focusing especially on the Mestral Dock, where the city's first blue economy center is being built.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has valued this visit very positively, which “allows us to learn about different ways of intervening in new spaces with the Blue Economy as the central axis. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that we have exchanged experiences that allow us to analyze possible avenues of collaboration between two strategic geographical areas linked to the sea."

The Port Olímpic was built in 1991 and was designed to integrate into the new maritime profile of Barcelona. Since April 2020, it has been undergoing transformation to become a space committed to citizens. The idea is to integrate the port into the city and transform it into a space committed to the environment and sustainability, open to the sea and the city.

In this space, the Blue Economy will be essential, creating a new pole of innovation, generation of economic activity and quality employment that are linked to the sea and environmental sustainability.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has reinforced its presence this year at the SIL in Barcelona, ​​which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2023, with a larger stand in order to give new impetus to the commercial strategy being carried out by the Consortium.
